I'm hearing that if all our striker options fall through then we'll be making a late bid to Doncaster Rovers to resign Billy Sharp. Seven figures for a season long loan - no option to buy. When I say 'I'm hearing' I mean 'I'm making up'. Just trying to lighten the mood.
Part, I am sure , of Citys transfer dealing this summer will have come from clubs knowing we had some money to spend. After the dust has settled, we should look back and say, no matter who we get in, its more about who we got rid of that defines the window and where we are moving forward.
I get that, but thats part of football. You could equally argue that we could have milked Ipswich as they've got new premier league millions.. The fact is they did their deals early, we're on deadline day without spending a great deal so far. Anyway, lets hope for an interesting day where we bring in everything we need plus a surprise or 2!
Agreed was talk of Cooper need 4/5 weeks to catch up too. It literally made no sense. Maka for all his flaws has been solid to start.
Man of the Match last week. Making it difficult for Hughes to force his way in, which is how it should be.
Remember also that the seller is also getting desperate. Norwich (for example) could, by tomorrow, be stuck with a player who doesn't want to be there, has handed in a transfer request, is costing them a **** load in wages, they (apparently) don't need, and whose value is rapidly reducing as his current contract runs down. Desperation cuts both ways I think.
I’m fine mate I don’t care who we sign as I don’t know the players ( I do really I’ve seen every game they’ve ever played) but I think the management have let Walter down He’s done well with what he’s been given but it’s not good I can’t for the life of me think why we didn’t steam in and sign a few players from Germany that Walter knows who could implement the plan he wants We’d hit the ground running then. I saw a quote from rosenior the other day He said if they’d had the January signings in all season we’d have done a lot better it’s a coaches job to mould a team we’ve given Tim no chance to do that that’s frustrating for him and us And I can’t see why we haven’t we’ve had the money since 12 July Silly ****s on here have been saying the whole window plenty of time Walter has been begging for signings Now here we are and I don’t wanna get hammered by leeds tomorrow
I'm gonna really stick my neck out and say that I may possibly agree with Rosenior on that one. I get the stuff about Walter though, it does appear that he has been disregarded in some way, as he surely had players in mind.
It’s been like this every year under Acun. Last summer we let Estupiñán go out on loan to Metz and couldn’t get a direct replacement in on deadline day because our main target was Keinan Davis and he went to Udinese. If we’re not careful, it will be the same again this year and we’ll only have Bedia and Burstow up front until January. We still need a couple wingers and a striker and at least one of the wingers and the striker needs to be good enough to go straight into the starting XI. We also really should push the boat out for Meffert because if Zambrano is banned, we’re relying on Simons until January which is probably not enough. Meanwhile we’re fart-arsing about trying to sign another attacking midfielder and keeper. Priorities seem bizarre right at the end of the window.
Birmingham bid £9million for Stansfield. Acun looking on thinking, we should maybe get relegated and then do what we want.
What I’ve never understood is why managers are exempt from the transfer window. It would make it much more fun. It would force clubs to make a decision whether to stick or twist.
