So far they've not had a happy return to the Championship, having lost two and drawn one of their opening three games. They've only scored one goal in three matched, T.Chong getting their only goal in a 1-4 loss against Burnley. Having been relegated last season, they'll be keen to turn the tide and start winning some games asap. As for us, after the high of our cup win on Tuesday, on penalties, back to league action where we've only faired slightly better than our opponents, having drawn two and lost one of our opening three games. Big news today is that Dykes has moved on, to Birmingham, and I'm hopeful this is part of a plan Cifuentes has to change the style of play to more attractive football, and being less reliant on long balls to a big striker who then wins aerial battles. We live in hope. Pre-match comments from Marti Cifuentes; “It is an unusual week, it is not usual that you will face the same team twice in three days but that is the way it is and we are ready to face again a good team." “The challenge for us is always the same – try to be better than we were in the last game, try to be better than the opposition, try to create more chances." “I am sure they will try to have a strong performance. They have not had the start they would want so I am expecting a reaction. I said this straight after our cup game that this game will be tougher for us. We need to be ready.” “Luton showed us in many minutes on Tuesday they are a good team and it was a difficult game for us, but we managed to grow and in the second half we were better than in the first half." “They are very physical, they are direct and in the first half we really struggled for some minutes to get out of that high pressure, to get out of our box." “One of our strengths was that we kept competitive despite they had a big momentum, but we are aware that any other day this could be goals against us, and we need to make sure we get better.” “I would only be satisfied if we had nine from nine and were playing fantastic football. “We have had good moments and we are getting there but we have had eight new faces and those changes take time. We have a good base from last season and that is why we have shown good moments over these games but we are a team that is still a work-in-progress.” Team news : Cifuentes confirmed Lucas Andersen is available for selection while Ilias Chair and Morgan Fox remain out. ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Not sure who mixed these two threads up...but hope I have now sorted them But this is Fridays league match...And is now a sticky The cup match has been unsticked and name changed
Ticket came through and I’m in Row P so I’ll be relying on this thread to have a clue what’s happening on the pitch unless they made the views any better for those fancy Dan Prem fans.
He was pretty good for us. Had a reasonable career but injured a lot. Just had a look and we conceded three goals in those six games. Legend.
Pre-match comments and team news from Cifuentes added. After a truly inspirational morning watching quite incredible athletes at the Paralympic athletics, really hoping the R's can step up tonight.
Just about made the train from B-town direct all the way through to beautiful Bedfordshire with blissfully only an hour between arrival and the match. Enjoy everyone x Whatever will be, will be, we’re going to Wemberlee
