I can only find claims by Paul Staines that he was cleared, so I don't have any confidence in that.

GB Energy will probably save that amount in the long run but it hasn't even started work yet. Also anyone who thinks that saving 'up to' £300 is a promise to save £300 doesn't understand that up to £300 includes zero! It's the normal formulation to avoid making a promise.

Clearly a promise for the whole Parliamentary term because GB Energy will need time to deliver. And still contains the weasel words 'up to'. Strictly it's a promise that bills won't fall by more than £1,400!

The word "annually" is there in the Scots Labour leaflet

As that will not be happening in 2024, as not only is more money being taken out of the pocket but the money you got in return is taken away as well, that claim is a lie

Meanwhile, on the internet's execution square...

This is in response to receiving a summons due to Twitter having no legal representation in Brazil ever since **** For Brains shut their Brazilian office

Of course, the fact that this same supreme court justice also happened to be the one who called for the mass arrests of the Bolsonaro supporters who tried to do their own January 6th last year - and, crucially, he asked **** For Brains to hand over the names an IP addresses of the organisers, who used Twitter to coordinate their coup attempt to comply with Brazilian law, as there has been very strict laws about treason and coup attempts in the Brazilian constitution since 1988

So of course, the ****wit refused and just shrugged off the fines - so the Brazilin supreme court went to the backup plan, which is dragging his sorry ass into court

A promise with the words 'up to' in it has no actual deliverable and so can't be a lie. It only promises the savings won't be more than the number mentioned. This is a well known marketing technique. It shouldn't be used in political campaigning but it isn't a lie.

The word "annually" puts a date on getting money back

Scottish voters are not getting money back in their pocket in 2024, in fact the money that would have been put in their pocket has been taken away

    So, therefore, porkies

Up to £1400 means anything less than £1400 including zero and arguably negative numbers too. So it will only be a lie if they got more than £1400 back.
It is indefensible but carefully worded so it can't be a lie.

Annually implies there will be money off bills every year

There will not be money coming off bills in 2024, so the slogan is a lie

    It really is that simple

Yes but the promised amount of money is zero because it says the savings is 'up to £1400'.

The amount of money is less than zero, due to increasing bills and the removal of the winter fuel allowance, which does not track with the slogan "Labour will put money back in your pocket"

Just accept you backed a pup and move on

    Funnily enough, so did I

Difference is I can see a promise of "Labour will put money back in your pocket" and know that can't be "Well akshually"ed away

I can't see how any sort of statement about annual savings can be fact checked until at least a year has passed.
In our electoral system we effectively currently have a choice between a bunch of right wing nutters and a right of centre Labour Party. Out of those two, I have a 100% preference for the latter and there are enough people attacking Labour without me joining in. History tells me that the sort of manifesto I really want would get 25% of the votes maximum.
