Here's something - England at the WC/Euros. Ploddy, dull, predictable, occasionally lucky, ultimately fruitless. Major concensus of opinion is those English players are either a) out of position, and/or b) used to playing with way better players for their domestic sides (i.e. more talented/better players, also known as foreigners). Newcastle are chock full of English huff and puffers and aside from what we saw from Tonali, and Bruno/Isak carrying us at times, that's what we have. Including the manager, who has built this team and continues to - like Gareth Southgate - play the same way, week in, week out. We've seen it with Barnes again today, poor positioning, giving it away. I just think you need players from more cultured backgrounds to add creativity and spark and we just don't have it. We're "industrious". Like Bournemouth were. I think I'm mind made up now - Howe is the problem and needs to go.
I'm turning my phone off. My stream is a little behind everyone else's. Night, night. See you in the next round.
