Funny you should mention it - it's overly hot and humid here at the moment - so much so my bloody air conditioning units have packed in from overwork ! Fortunately I've just sold my current house and moving to Scarborough at the end of the month - not the one up the coast from Witherensea, the one up the lake from T'ranna. Don't tell anyone.

Aha. Scarborough is technically a district of Toronto after it's amalgamation (with other districts) with the original City of Toronto just before the turn of the century. Scarborough is part of what is now known as "Greater Toronto".
Aye. 60 years ! Was born in Hornsea. lived in Hessle, spent many a summer on Atwick Gap beach as a pre- teen,worked on the dodgems at Brown's in Brid as a teen, visited aunts & uncles in Scarborough many a time and tried to avoid With, but occationally ventured there when the old man took us to Spurn on his motorbike and sidecar.. Scarborough is still North of With is it not, or has coastal erosion dragged it down further South?
Without looking at a map is it on the Lake Ontario shoreline north-east of the centre. I need to get back to Niagara-on-the-Lake one day...Nice part of the world. My uncle Dave and aunt Jackie still live there, though Dave is now in his early 80s and not as fit as he used to be....Lovely town.
You're spot on. A bit industrial but some nice pockets close to the lake and a biking trail along the Saarborough Bluffs which is where we bought the new home. Quite a tranquil area Love Niagara-on-the-lake. The missus and I spent a few days there on our honeymoon in the late 70s. Smashing hotel and very pleasant old town. An old mate from Newcastle/Leeds lived there (RIP Bill), so we haven't been back there for a while. Must do again.

Isn't Scarborough GTA full of Jamaicans? Niagra on the Lake is lovely, couple of good pubs and plenty nice places to eat, with lots of wineries on the doorstep. Great place for a long weekend.
Sport - Ted Dexter, Derek Randall, Ian Ashbee Music - Gary Brooker (if he was still alive), David Gilmour, Rick Wakeman, Barbra Streisand Comedy - Eric Sykes, Harry Worth, Mel Blanc, Morecambe & Wise TV/Stage - Stephanie Cole, Alan Alda, Lisa Kudrow Literature - Anne McCaffrey, Edward Marston, Lord Tennyson, Thomas Malory I think these would be fascinating conversationalists and a huge mix.
