Not sure if it’s been mentioned but can someone tell the new commentator we say “black and amber”, not “amber and black”. It seems like a small issue but it’s already grating on me

While I’m here, it’s “Hull City”. If you shorten it, it’s “City”, not “Hull”. Thanks.

 

Every club with just one football team gets referred to by just the first name, Newcastle, Preston, Leeds, Norwich, Ipswich etc…
What should he do when we play another club called City?

 

Plus the football team are far bigger and more well known than effcee

I get that. But when providing commentary to our fans (who are mainly from Hull), we should be called City.

 

He also called us 'Umberside twice that I heard. ****!!

 

When I'm in Greece and talking to the local barman about football I say Hull City, it's still a short name and doesn't need shortening to Hull Tigers, and the locals repond with ah yes, Stelios Giannakopoulos, a great hero of Greece when we won Euro 2004, he also played for the mighty Hull City! And they gratefully take my scarf or pennant and proudly hang it behind the bar.

When an online news site reports everything you need to know about something. Who the **** are they to tell me what I need to know, it's just their take of a story, often not reporting all the facts. Let people make up their own mind.

 

Menus with a section called Light Bites, or even worse Lite Bites.

 

Locals in Ipswich and Huddersfield refer to the team as ‘Town’ not by the city name.

 

Locals here do. As they do everywhere. I was referring to the way commentators call clubs. Unless there are two or more clubs in a city they just use the city name. What should the commentator refer to us as if we are playing Bristol City or Stoke City?

Like locals saying hull are fc
Is giving and saying they are the bigger team?

The biggest and most famous sports team from hull
Is hull city

If youre discussing football with someone and they ask if you support hull
Itd obvious they mean hull city

Same way if someone says
Im a stoke fan

 

Not really. I lived in Leeds during the Revie years. If asked what they were doing at the weekend if they were going to football they said they were watching United, if going to watch the RL club they said Leeds.

I thought FC were world famous? I remember someone claiming on RH that wherever he went on holiday in America and said he was from Hull people always wanted to discuss KR with him. Yeah, sure. Could just imagine the scene in a bar in Chicago - hey, you guys, forget about the Bears, this guy is from Hull so here’s your chance to talk to him about Kingston Rovers.

 

Our new commentator is now saying “black and amber.” Everything is good. Apart from the football.

 

It’s “amber & black” in the song about singing & having scraps, on your chips. Does that count?
