I disagree about Wilder mate. I have seen a few call him out as poor but his record doesnt really back that up. Very successful at Oxford early days in his career. Northampton too. Then at Sheff Utd he took them from league 1 to the prem in 3 seasons. Top 10 in the prem in the first season back. Won league 1 with 100 points. He won plaudits as an innovative coach thanks to his overlapping centre back approach. Certain famous premier league managers went on to do the same. Middlesborough didnt work out and he probably wishes he never went in to Watford which is a graveyard for coaches. I am not sure why he doesnt the credit others do. I think he has a very good CV personally and deserves another crack with Sheff Utd. Wouldnt be surprised at all if he gets them back up, but players they keep will determine that I suspect as much as Wilder.
He did start well. We were linked when he was at Oxford and I was keen. He’s not gone on from there though. The last time they went uk they were poor. Really just had little runs at right time. We’re really poor against us, dodgy red in away game. Then, well, worst prem record ever, worse than Derby; while he was in charge. I just don’t think he brings anything to them. He may do a solid job, they may go up, but I personally don’t see it and I don’t rate him.
Just listened to the Burnley podcast (like to listen to fans of the other club we’ve played to get a different perspective after our game) They went absolutely in on their owner’s and what they are currently doing, said they feel sorry for Scott Parker because he’s been sold a dream and they reckon their’s a good chance by the end of the window they could of sold/let go of twenty two players from their squad. they obviously will be bringing some in but that’s a hell of a lot of squad churn.
Not sure I’m emotionally ready to have to play against Jack Clarke AND Ross Stewart next season. So we better get promoted.
I think he was brilliant but like all coaches that magic has subsided, think he was sheff utd’s Reidy but is on downward slope now.
Aye, can’t blame them really after listening to that. doesn’t sound owa great over their, I watched the last season of the documentary they did (it’s terrible btw) and their owners do seem pretty clueless when actually talking about football but clearly are clever businessmen. makes you question if they just hit lucky with Kompany and recruitment but seems there’s more that want out since they put that podcast out too, all Doesn’t seem over well over there at the minute. Which is good news to us if it’s the case as it removes one of the teams from promotion contention who have parachute money.
