Not sure on how the law stands. But as part of the Highway Code about 1.5m passing distance you can be fined for a close pass if it’s less than this.

I had to pass a cyclist this morning, but it was coming up to a mini rounadbout so I thought fook it, just stay behind him. Thankfully he went off the opposite direction to me. Reading what you wrote, I thought that means you have to do as I normally do and enter the other side of the road, trying to get an accurate mental picture of it, so googled it...

Seen it get worse since lockdown was lifted around here. Got to a point where I don’t cycle as much as I did previously.
Makes me think, do those who close pass do the same when overtaking a moped/motorbike or someone on a horse? I have never seen a close pass on those other road users.

must be because we look sexy as in our Lycra.

I’m on a couple of Facebook groups for places that I visit for bike packing, they are rural groups and the hatred towards cyclists on the roads is alarming.

I often point out whether they would take the same attitude if passing a horse rider.

and whether they are aware that those cyclists will be sombody’s son, daughter, brother or sister.

A lot of folk are really impatient behind the wheel and when they see a cyclist, they just seem them as something that’s in their way, instead of understanding that they have the right to use the road and everybody has the responsibility to use the roads safely

most cyclists are also drivers, and they understand how vulnerable you are on a bike in the road and will usually give cyclists plenty of room. But a lot of drivers just want to get past them as quickly as possible.

When I’m PM I will introduce an element to the driving test where you have to ride a bike 1km through a town centre, so that as a driver you understand how to drive safely around cyclists

Was listening to the radio this morning and they were saying that the Wembley Premier Inn rooms are priced at £500 a night for the Oasis dates and are selling fast!

The facts are that if there was another slower vehicle that got in the way of cyclists they would complain like ****.

Can see this conversation has continued through the day.

I've got the pics, they show it wasn't that close. Added to that, I know fine well he did it deliberately, making me move almost completely into the oncoming lane, and that it was completely unnecessary as he was slow moving on a country road and I could nip past in a second, tops.

    He was/is a ****.

I live in a rural area and regularly drive down country roads past multiple cyclist, I know how it works and I'm used to it. And yes, they are a pain in the arse.
I also crawl past horses, the riders of which do not deliberately try to obstruct vehicles looking for a rise.

This bloke is a ****ing cock looking for trouble though.
One day, he'll get it, and someone will bang the ****er out.

    I'll be contesting this, vigorously.
