The last lot knew they were toast and true to type they feathered their nest in the time they had left , I am certainly not a fan of Starmer or Reeves but there is no easy way to solve the mess that's been left behind and certainly not in a hundred days , lt might not be a popular opinion but give the lower earners a tax break or more money and they will spend it give it to millionaires and they will stash it away

Given the millionaires are threatening to leave the country if they get taxed, I'd call their bluff and tax them to see if they live up to their word

Considering so many of them said they'd leave the country if Sadiq Khan got elected Mayor of London and haven't, it's about time they learned that if they want to play chicken they run the risk of getting run over

The answer to the bluff is so simple: "So, Amazon, you would give up billions in revenue for a few million in tax?"

Do they really not think we remember how often the exact same threat has been made? Mobile network providers made he same threat twenty years ago when it emerged that some of them were dodging tax entirely, as if their customers wouldn't just shrug and sign a contract with someone who was operating in the UK the second they flounced off

That's capitalism. Trickle down economics is absolute horseshit. Money surges upwards. Whilst it does so, it creates jobs.

In any sensible capialist/corporatist economy, taxation and wealth redistribution provides an element of balance and keeps the system operating. It's going to destroy the planet, but we're destined to do that one way or another...

It's not even an opinion, it's just what happens.
People at the bottom end of wealth need cash and spend it. Those at the top don't need it and don't spend it. They save it.

Trickle down economics doesn't work and they knew it didn't before they rebranded it.
It used to be called Horse and Sparrow Theory, as in you feed the horse oats and the sparrows get to peck out something from it's ****.
Not the most appealing imagery, is it?

Suddenly reminded of that one horse in the Royal Regiment that dribbles oats so it can stamp on the pigeon that flies down to eat it

IIRC that's the one which blattered Princess Anne recently

If this is true ,WOW , proof that Truss had lost the plot and also Kwarteng proving once again that he has shoulders like a Coke bottle and has no problem throwing Truss under the bus
