Did they have stricter lockdown conditions than we did? Like Spain did. Maybe we have bred softer generations than elsewhere who can’t cope with the slightest thing?
It appears that some people mangage to monopolise the system, wether they are really ill or not because they are known they get to see a GP whenever they demand to. Others even though they may have serious health issues which required hospital treatment can't get a GP appointment because they are not known to their local GP system.
I couldn't tell you the last time I spoke to a GP by phone, never mind face to face... I have a 'non urgent' appointment lined up for a week's time to discuss bloods I had taken 7 weeks ago(Dr wants to speak to me,not the opposite),hopefully I'm still inhaling and exhaling by the time they phone...Otherwise I'll go down as a 'failed to attend' and I'll have cost the NHS £156(or whatever it equates to nowadays).
Not long ago in east europe, because the health system is so poor enterprising people have taken up the opportunity to make money. Blood testing is a walk in, they take your blood and about a fiver there and then, two page analysis by email in 2 to 3 hours. Back here, 12 days before they could take my blood, chased up after a week to be told the nurse practitioner is scheduled to call me in another 10 days time.
You get results back the next day in France. Thoughthe system is different as to having blood taken. Still, ee have nothing to learn ftom those furriners. God bless the NHS and all who work in her.
I have a blood test every three months at my GP surgery, when finished the nurse books my next appointment there and then, and my results are back the next day. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
In Hong Kong, shopping centres often have a section with small office suites that are mainly used for medical purposes. I went to see an acupuncturist once, about a problem with my knee, he said he was happy to help but I'd need an X-Ray for him to be able to diagnose the issue first. I said I didn't have time to go to hospitals for an X-Ray, he said go to the office three doors down, you can be back here with the X-Rays in less than half an hour. And I was.
My neighbour’s husband went in for a blood test last week at the request of the hospital he had been in and was told the results would take 6 weeks. Like you I have regular blood tests and get those results back quickly. But I was told to get a blood test for something else and it was 4 weeks before I heard anything.
