Good Morning. It's Tuesday 27th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Blades knock back 'derisory' Hamer bid Sheffield Utd have turned down a bid of £13m from Leeds Utd for star midfielder Gustavo Hamer. Hamer was their big-money signing last Summer, replacing Sander Berge, and quickly became their most instrumental player. He already has two goals and an assist in his first three games, proving without him, the cogs will not turn. Journalist Alan Nixon reported in May that Sheffield Utd were willing to cash in on Hamer this Summer if they were able to recoup the £15 million they paid for him, but it appears their stance has changed. Having strengthened significantly this Summer without spending a lot of money, Chris Wilder has built a squad capable of challenging for a top 6 finish. Losing their talisman, this close to the end of the transfer window would seriously damage their chances. It will be interesting to see whether Leeds go back with a second bid. They have the money, but only a limited time to spend it. We've all heard the excuses why Leeds rarely bring players through in January, so if they are to get the deal done, they'll need to do it quickly! please log in to view this image Solomon deal done Manor Solomon will complete his long awaited season long loan to Leeds United after the kinks in his paperwork were ironed out! Given Solomon's injury record, Leeds wanted various financial clauses amended. Initially, this did not go down well in North London, but Grétar Steinsson and Daniel Levy managed to reach a compromise. Respected journalist David Ornstein reported that there had been late interest in the Israeli International (from multiple parties), 'but the deal is now set to go through'. Jaidon Anthony had been linked with a return to Leeds, but instead will now sign for rivals Burnley! please log in to view this image Aarons deal gathering pace Rumours of Max Aarons joining Leeds this Summer are gathering pace ahead of the final few days of the Summer transfer window. We know Daniel Farke is a massive fan of Aarons, having worked with him during his Norwich tenure, and came really close to signing him last Summer. The former England U21 star was in the midst of completing his Thorp Arch medical, when he heard Bournemouth were after him, causing him to hot foot it down to the South Coast. Unfortunately for Aarons, his time at the Vitality Stadium has been filled with frustration and disappointment. He's failed to make the number 3 shirt his own, and is yet to make an appearance this season. The Cherries have made it clear that Arrons is available this Summer, prompting offers from Italy, but given his relationship with Farke, wouldn't ER be an obvious choice? We know Farke wants competition for places, but having just splashed out £5m for Jaidon Bogle, the right wing-back position is taken. We're also aware that the gaffer likes to play inverted wide men, and given Junior Firpo's injury record, bringing someone of Arrons class would definitely strengthen Leeds back line. please log in to view this image
Morning all I think £13 million for Hamer shouldn't be sniffed at. They paid £15 million for him and now put the fact that he's had a year at Shefford Utd and he's dropped down a division. Don't think it's a bad price. I saw some of their fan base on more like £30 million. In a post Covid world who are they kidding.
Aarons can do one he's another rat we don't need those kind of players anymore. Hamer i wanted before he left Coventry but would not pay that price as Sheff utd need some money so let's see who blinks first.
Morning all Good to get another one over the line, we are two players stronger since our last outing and plenty of activity to come I’m sure
Yeh, I like Hamer but he's 27, so will have no resale by end of contract. Jack Clarke just went to PL for £15m + add-ons. Summerville, championship player of the season went for £25. These are all younger guys, with arguably already better track records. Don't think the value is far off for him. Their choice if they sell him and for how much, but the valuation comments is just Wilder being Wilder.
Happy that Solomon is over the line. I've only seen him play 2 or 3 times and he was unplayable each time. Clearly had that been the norm for him he wouldn't be coming to us, so seems a bit of a punt (aren't they all), but it will be interesting to see. If either Chair or Hamer materialise they'd fit the bill of the AM/10 we've been crying out for for years. If Gnonto stays and ends up playing there like he did at the Wendies i'd be very happy with that but need competion/cover for that position regardless.
i would hope he had a significant championship relegation %cut off that... like the Rat contracts. key words in that sentence are 'i would hope'
Won't fit in to our style of play. Another Piroe who can't press or run faster than me with my feet tied together.
If we get rid of Bamford or sell Piroe, then I'd say it was an okay move on a free transfer. It depends on funds, I would prefer Hamer in midfield
From what I can figure out and theres about 1000 names floating about. We're in for about 3 or 4 more players with Bamford on the way out. If Wober goes back to Germany then it's 5. In 4 days that one hell of a feet. And that's after Solomon
OK I'll bite. Where's Bamford going? There cannot be a professional club in the world that'd touch him
Usually I'd agree with ya but he's one of those players that the fans hate but managers seem to love. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to the MLS or the SPL. I seriously don't think he's prestigious enough to go to Saudi Arabia.
