The whole situation seems very similar to the Harry Kane/Daniel Levy one from a few years back when Levy had agreed if Kane saw out the season he would be allowed to leave. That did not happen but it damaged Levy and Tottenhams reputation which has taken time to rebuild.
Not sure if these things should go public but players should know who they are dealing with.
