How many games did Racioppi play domestically, out of interest?

TLT and Cartwright aren't ready for the championship and there is little tangible evidence to judge the other two on in real terms. At the moment we've just bought potential.

At a guess 27 million plus 2 cup games.

Potential doesnt grow in value while its 2nd choice or 3rd choice not even making the bench.
Both could have stayed at their previous clubs and played 1st team

By your thinking we’ve got potential in Racioppi, pandur, Tim and Harvey. How do they ever grow in value by not playing.
I’ll put money on Tim and Harvey never playing 5 games for us possibly never playing a first game again for us. It’s a totally pointless exercise having them all here

Just making the observation that he wasn't first choice in the swiss league last year, so maybe we should temper expectations. Still not established.

Racioppi was no 2 last season. Pandur might as well be playing Humber prem than the Dutch league - it's just not week in week out competitive. Ideally you'd have a situation where they'd get opportunity but also experienced cover if they need to be taken out for a few games. Id say that would be the optimal when breaking out youth.

But there’s no advantage for them coming here and been 2nd or 3rd choice

Their contracts are long term, so we have a stake in their future beyond this season. Bringing in a loan for a year doesn't dramatically change that outlook.

It does because it pushes one to 3rd choice, I’d put money on it we didn’t tell Racioppi he’d be 3rd choice

We probably didn't, but the staff see what they're working with and they feel we need something more, clearly.

    It happens.

It's inherently a short term acquisition. The 2 permanents are here 3 or 4 years.

Some clubs go with 3 senior keepers as a matter of course so I don't think we're massively overstacking if we loan a 3rd whilst the new boys establish themselves.

If they’ve seen that after one game, what did the brains team see when they scouted him

Have to ask the brains team, but they probably saw potential, and a good performance against Man City.

Equally Tim gets the final say, so why does he want another

He did say TLT couldn’t leave as he wants 3. Clearly he wants game time so we are going for another as Foster could do with a loan too along with Cartwright being injured

He didn't sign off on Pandur, and although he's looked better than expected in the league games he still looks to have a rick or two in him.

But ultimately there's something he clearly feel is lacking. And the glaringly obvious thing is experience. Few sides go into a season with 2 keepers and 4 games at the level between them.

Ultimately though, only Walter can definitively answer that, and I'm sure he'll be asked.

There is more chance of upsetting the apple cart by bringing in another keeper to challenge for number 1, it’s like Acun last season wanting Pandur in goal so spends the dough bringing in another keeper Rocioppo to challenge him which I assume both of them are ok with, but now add to the mix someone else which I am sure Pandur and Rocioppo won’t be to chuffed about considering Rocioppo would not have come knowing he was just someone with potential and could be 3rd choice or Pandur who now might be on the bench again.

Walter did always say he wanted 3 keepers. Doubt TLT fancies being 3rd choice after 2 good loans and playing every week.

It's not unusual to manage the dynamic of 3 senior keepers though, and if that's Walters preference, then he's probably done it before.

But TLT might like the challenge now after his experience with the loan, he may think he can compete with these two keepers, he may also think another loan lower down is not what he wants now.

Hopefully the loan is for someone like Tom Heaton like ST said. He'll be 3rd choice but can mentor Pandur and Racioppi whilst allowing TLT to go out on loan. Also having a 3rd choice keeper on loan will keep the other loanees happy as they can still be named in the matchday squad.

If the loan keeper is coming in with the expectation to play, I fear we're going to needlessly unsettle a few members of the squad.

Been away for the weekend, see the comments re a 3rd keeper, but weren't we supposed to be in for a striker ? and a Winger ?, do we have any news re. These or is it smoke and mirrors time ?

What he wants very much depends on him being deemed ready and capable for the standard were at.

If he was, we wouldn't be bringing a 3rd.

Pretty sure there was none of this whining and scrutiny when Brownie brought in donkey dick Warner as a 3rd option.
