Don’t forget, the city known as the capital of baseball in England was Hull.

 

Remember those days, just before it was renamed as the capital of rugby league, when it also wasn't. But suprisingly when Hull had the biggest amateur football league/Sunday league set up in the country we were never referred to as the capital of that?

No. Hull had over 80 in the area baseball teams in the 1940s . Had a large number in the 1930s as well. Always have latched on to minority sports.

I did fear a bumming today but the black and whites are putting up a spirited display against Wigan.

 

Wigan pulling away now but not as much as i'd thought it'd be.

 

Wigan haven’t been very good. Brad Fash is a liability.

 

Points difference down to 78 now, still a nice cushion.

 

Would the league leaders shield count as a trophy and therefore shut up all FC gobshites? Depends who you ask I suppose, but I'd say yes. Certainly more meaningful than winning some end of season play offs to decide the "Champions" imo

 

I prefer back to back Challenge Cups.

 

That FC fullback, Logan Moy, looks like a midget when he's standing under a high ball with a horde of Wigan bearing down on him. I feared for his life, got some bottle though.

 

Yea, it's a major trophy but everyone looks to the Grand Final as the main one.

 

Easy to say when you've done it, which was a good achievement.

 

Can't be a nice feeling waiting for that ball to come down knowing you're gonna get twatted whatever size you are.

 

Lots of teams have done back to backs. Wigan had 8 in a row, St Helens had a hat trick.

 

I've never quite got it personally. Spend seven months slogging away only to have to win some play offs to win the league, but it might just be something avid rugby fans understand!
