Thought newcastle were really poor there. Pretty sure that goal should've stood and how was Joelinton not sent off?
It's not though imo ... ... Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, etc, would be gutted. Just shows what level they're really at.
100%, my Newcastle supporting mate just messaged saying he cant believe that got disallowed Then ranted about joelinton for 5 minutes
That last 2 or so minutes was an absolute disgrace. Handball for something that looked like came of the defenders arm then a closeline on the keeper and only a yellow card. What a joke
It amazes me that Joelinton finishes so many games. He’s a good player but gets away with foul after foul. That was a straight red every day of the week.
The ref should be looking at it on the monitor imo - he has changed his original decision without ever checking it again Hate how VAR is used in the PL
What I don't understand about the way the game is officiated is the level of punishment does not match the offence. How is a coach saying something on the sideline worthy of a red but a closeline is a yellow? Dan Neil yesterday was sent off and will be suspended for kicking the ball 5 yards and making a silly challenge but a closeline is just a yellow card?
They really do. it’s just the way my mind works but I do wonder if we perhaps have had a favourable set of fixtures/circumstances in our first three games (I’ll take it if so, it makes a nice change and confidence and momentum can go a very long way in football). Cardiff look poor. Burnley are in relative disarray and though they looked good against Luton, Luton too seem to have struggled thus far. Then Sheff Weds looked relatively substandard against Leeds. Just the SAFC fan in me finding a cloud in the silver lining I’m sure.
I thought this too. The arms are right on top of each other if it hits the attackers arm it must also be hitting the defenders arm from what I saw. How do they then decide it’s handball against the attacker and not a penalty for a defenders handball. Not a clear and obvious error so it should be left alone. VAR ****ing up football matches again
I know what you mean haha I’m just going to choose to believe we’ve nullified all 3 and made them all look poor, Burnley and sheff wed are good sides, Cardiff are toilet though
Said from the start he’s so overrated I can’t believe he got a Brazil call up that just shows how far they’ve fallen. Basically just has to run around kicking people and winning the ball back to give it his mate who can actually do something with it. I get all teams need a player like him in the middle but the way they went on about him that CL season, comparing him to Rice.
The handball was 1 thing but Joelinnton would have been sent off for that challenge in Rugby. How the **** was he not sent off for it in football.
I think we have nullified them. If you think about it Patterson hasn't really had a real save to make in 3 games - that can't be a fluke
Mind, despite my post, you can still see how well coached and drilled we are and I know the talent we have in our ranks so it all still bodes well. Just really difficult to gauge where we actually are currently. Mind, I’ve said before, the Championship being as it is, even in November it can be hard to gauge that too.
Felt weirdly calm in the late stages yesterday we were so comfortable naturally got nervy after the red but again they offered nothing, were so impressive off the ball now
