Someone like he was in his purple patch with us at least. Quick and able to finish so that there was always a risk in committing too many players in attack

It kind of feels like this might be the solution but Martin needs to get over the loyalty factor. They simply both can’t be in the team together. Those two and Downes offer very little pace or threat. It’s just flat.

Can't be playing Smallbone and Aribo if we want to create chances and score goals.

That's it. Get Dibling and Fernandes playing instead and we might actually be half-decent.

Well yeah. And I hope Les and Fernandes are better than Will and Joe.

I read that as Les Ferdinand.

Would probably still be an improvement

Will faded and whist Aribo is strong and committed, he doesn’t offer enough threat. So yeah, hopefully Fernandes and Les will add that quality. May take time though.

I’m with the commentators regarding the way BBD and Arma hug the touch line. I don’t get it as, by not being central, they hinder our build up play as the midfield trio have nobody to bounce passes off, in an attempt to move the ball forward. Plus, it is a lot easier to press a player on the touch line than in a central position, especially if they aren’t specialist wingers, which BBD and Arma aren’t.
Dibling was a breath of fresh air. His first involvement was to receive the ball on the turn and drive forward and he caused them “concerns” if not problems, by his directness.
Would like to see us go with a flat back four at Cardiff, just to put an extra player up front, 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 would do for me, but I expect Fernandes, Dibling, SAA, Les and Archer to start.

Oh for a peak Big Les Ferdinand. He’d be precisely what we need.

Dibling played in the same way an Argentinian youngster does. Name escapes me…Cha…Charly something or other.

In fairness though, if Dibling can do what Charly does, and we can get £20m for Charly in order to get a proper striker - we kinda need to do that.

It wouldn't surprise me if we eventually end up with 4231 and Downes and Les as the deeper 2. Those 2 would help us stay tight at the back and the extra man going forward would make a huge difference.

I don’t know why you sound surprised that we would go down. I think it was a near certainty a month ago. I’ve already accepted it and thats a much less stressful place to be

Just got back. It's far, far too early to panic but we clearly need a CF not named Ross Stewart. I thought first half we showed Forest far too much respect - they were playing around us at will. Second half was better but one shot on target at home to Forest is clearly not good enough. The biggest plus was Dibling who's completely fearless on the ball and very direct. Please start him at Brentford Russell.

I also have high hopes for Fernandes. People relegating us after 2 games is laughable TBH.

The £15m spent on Archer would suggest we have a very capable one. Won't be long before he is starting you'd think

Yeah mental to be doing that after two games.

All today showed is how much we desperately lack quality. Which most of us knew anyway.
