Vicario worries me just like Lloris used to by staying rooted to his goal line. Can't get used to it.
Well, that was a proper mixed bag. Excellent at times going forward but awful defensively and some really poor performances from key players.
Oddly disappointing first half, given we have gotten the second goal that eluded us last game. Since that second goal though we’ve lost all of our tempo. Everton were doing a better job pressing after the goals and we’ve struggled to get Odobert and Kulu into the game. They looked impressive at the start of the half though. That drop off and some sloppy passes will likely be Ange’s focus at half time you’d think. Need to pick up the pace of the game after half time.
Decent but not great first half. Everton got back into the game as it went on though. Bissouma and Kulu have been great when we’ve used them, Odobert started really brightly too but then didn’t see much of him in the final 10 mins. Romero’s been uncharacteristically very shaky and Johnson has been anonymous, he really needs a big second half because Odobert already looks like he’ll please the crowd once he gets more settled.
Was going to post self-same thing - just as he came out to collect a cross. He doesn't give me confidence at all. Certainly not a keeper to dominate his box.
He was gasping for air after 25 minutes! Think the step up and adopting to our full-on style of play will take a few games to settle in.
It’s how Spurs have been and will continue to be under Ange. First half hour usually full of energy and then naturally the team tails off. It’s been my issue with the manager since he was appointed, it’s not a sustainable way of playing, it’s almost negligent and there’s no way of success at this level unless your players are vastly superior to opponents.
If you're going to play in 20 minute spurts then you need to have a good defensive plan for the recuperation period. We clearly don't - not yet at least.
I can’t imagine it’s deliberate. Like you say we need to be maintaining the intensity over the course of a game if we want the team to go to the next level.
That’s a good switch to get us on the break. Need to use those balls over the top, and quick switches when we’re in their half, to stretch the game more.
