Agree - although we ended the game strongly. Frustrating in some of those final attacks we chose to square the ball into nowhere instead of taking the shot.
First half we were far better than them. Second half pretty even........because of losing Dickie mainly, and Mehmeti oh ffs don't get me started. Tbf, I had a go at Sykes last time, thought his game today improved massively. We'll miss Dickie, he's our only player who wins crosses in the air. Right...... I see problem in Manning thinking he has to make substitutions, on 60 and 75 minutes. Seems to me he's trying to keep everyone happy. He'll learn.
Just because you have loads of subs doesn't mean you have to make loads of subs. Subs changed the game for the worse losing shape and control. Feels like a defeat.
first half reasonable, second half chaotic, .... overall a real need for a big improvement if we are to feature above 12th!
Dickie went off with an injury, he took a knock, no idea why Twine went off, presumably he didn’t do preseason with us so not fully match fit,
He made the changes and it backfired -taking Bird-Twine—Armstrong off crazy.Three of the best players in our team. Wells-Mehmeti-made us weaker and it cost us two points. Hull was down to Williams whose head went. Play your strongest side.
Wells wasn’t even on the pitch when Coventry scored. Bird was though. Armstrong is never a 90 minute player plus took a knock. Mehmetti I will give you but Yu will replace him once fit. Losing Dickie threw the team into panic without him, Naismith in my option was too slow now and holds onto the ball too long. Hopefully Atkinson came through the under 21’s ok and will give us more at the back. Watching on TV must be different view as Williams broke up a lot of their play.
Rod, I thought the same about Williams, Naismith and Dickie. 1For, for me it was a deliberate block, Mehmeti turned his shoulder into their player and started their build up in pressure that ended with their goal. LM's organisation and press is there for all to see but his subs, timing and players cost us the game along with Dickie's injury.
I tend to be on the same page Angelic as I have thought for some time that Williams is a liability and has a bit of a crazy head at times. As far as Armstrong is concerned I see him as a big target up front but as some QPR fans said he can be a bit lazy and needs many chances to score and today he could have had at least one but was way off on his finishing. We also went back into our confused and dazed mode in the second half when a win, rather than a single point, would have seen us top of the table. Thankfully other results went our way and we still are unbeaten in the league and in a nice spot in the table. Let's hope we can get back on track because some of the football was quite good and I see some progress.
There’s been a lot of talk on OTIB and (unsurprisingly) on the Coventry forum about our goal being offside, because one of our players was on the floor in their goalmouth when Tanner struck. Question; should the goal have been disallowed for offside (ie did the referee make a mistake), or was it deliberately allowed because the guy was on the floor, stranded and therefore not interfering with play?
We just seemed to lack much purpose in the second half Had one of the other half decent chances we had gone in it would have been game over but we didn’t get that bit of luck But it was a game we could also easily have lost come the end as Coventry looked quite dangerous after their substitutions
