I don’t know any loony leftards. And you call them all that like it’s a bad thing. In my day you grinned and bared it (literally) when the scoutmaster needed to relax. But: Labour made it clear they weren’t going on a Liz Truss ‘borrow for broke’ strategy, and independent observers like the IFS were saying clearly there was a huge gap in the previous governments spend and tax plans. So you’d have to be dim not to realise the effects of addressing this would be painful.
For all the faults of the previous 'government' I personally don't think they'd have cancelled the WFP, perhaps a better idea would have been to take it off the better off pensioners (who quite a lot openly admitted they didn't need it) but hey let's celebrate the first few weeks in charge then see if Mr bacon butty milliband will bring down power prices with his net zero zeal ...keep warm and cosy
