Jobsworths from which organisation?

The SAG probably.Though no doubt the council will be in favour. Love to see them enforcing at places like Leeds where both ends behind the goals and some down the sides spend all game stood up.

Didn't Norwich have to pay a small fine last year for persistent standing in a friendly?

Don’t know. But they now have over 4,000 safe standing spaces, which is the whole lower tier and a corner. Leeds have put in about 1,000 going up to 2,000 with plans to extend it if successful on the top section of the Gelderd End.

It would seem the way forward and easy to sort immediately. It massively improves the atmosphere in Norwegian and Swedish leagues, especially in Norway as the away followings are small due to away days not being so common.

Surely to be 'persistent' standing, an individual would have to have been asked to stop and refused. The stewards in the north stand make no attempt to get us to stop standing, so it's not really persistent. It's unchallenged.

If there really is a regulatory issue that could see the club punished, then clearly it is time for safe standing to be installed in the north stand. I can't see another realistic solution. Nagging people to sit will have no effect.

If they insist on people sitting down then the atmosphere will be even worse, people just don't sing and chant from a sitting position.

Not a stander myself, not by choice but by age. I fail to see if someone has paid for a seat why it is compulsory to sit in it? Its different if by standing you are blocking someone elses view, but if you are in an area where everyone is standing why should you be forced to sit down? Surely you are in that area by choice?
I find the 'protect atmosphere' bit laughable. So now you cannot stand, not to mention the cctv, stewarding and policing measures football supporters aka spectators have to put up with, we also have the ridiculous kick off times, if anything was ever designed to stiffle atmosphere those restrictions would be top of the list. The game is in danger of taking the supporters, those who pay and attend games, not those who sit in the pub or at home watching on the telly, for granted once too often, and once they have gone the game we all love will never be the same again.

Wonder if Acun will suggest Fenerbahce introduce similar measures to make things safer and more enjoyable for their fans? Don’t forget how dangerous it is to stand up in the high, steeply sloped West Stand Upper.<laugh>

There is absolutely no issue with standing if everybody in a section wants to stand

More than 3/4 of the ground are sat down , some people don't even stand up if we score

Perhaps the rules need looking at rather than trying to force everybody to sit at all times

SAG isn’t an organisation though
It’s just a collective of other organisations like the club, the council, police, fire brigade etc.
My money is on it being a national police directive (college of policing or NPCC) that some forces are choosing to look like they’re doing something about.
