I always remain hopeful that someone will decide to reboot Blake's 7 in the style of the BSG reboot (but without the silly religious aspect), but this time with an actual budget. Even though it's final episode was too traumatic for my young self.
Echoing what others have basically said - The Union - 5.2 Feels like you've seen it 100x before with how similar and basic the storyline is.
Alien Romulus. 6.3 Started well, first half is great, second half, not so much. Lots of fan service, you get a sense of de ja vue from the repeats of poster shots from the previous films, but they try to tie it to all the plots of every film, and that's where it falls down for me.
Agree 100% was going to leave a similar review. Found the first half pretty good and I was like "huh, we might get a decent Alien film for the first time since 1987" but after 50 minutes or so it petered out, the characters starting to behave dumb and the plot went to ****. Too many forced callbacks to the original movies. The "Get away from her you bitch" was particularly cringe. Disappointed, especially since, 45 minutes in, I thought I was in for a good Alien movie
Longlegs Psychological horror written and directed by Oz Parker and Staring Maika Munroe, Alicia Witt and Nicholas Cage. The ever excellent Munroe plays an FBi agent assigned to an old serial killer case because she could have a wee bit of much needed fùckeduptidness in order to solve it. Witt plays her Momma and the obvious source of her aforementioned Fùckeduptidness. And Cage, well he's just 100% Fùcked up as the Longlegs of the title. This is him on full Nick mode and all the better for it. But it director Oz Perkins that's the star of this ****show. He has shot this movie so well, in a manner like you will never have seen before. Well I haven't anyway. I can't really compare it to anything that's gone before. It's pitch black dark, creepy and weird as fùck. It won't be everyone's cup of tea. I haven't checked the reviews but I'd imagine them to be a mixed bag. I loved it though. Best horror of the year so far imho. 8.5/10 P.S. Miss Munroe will next be seen reprising her role in It Follows, They Follow. Let's hope the "follow" up is as excellent as the original.
I can't stand Cage. He overacts very badly. I forced myself a couple of years back to watch some of his movies to see if my initial opinion had changed. It hadn't. Can't get away with Ryan Gosling either.
Cage is like Marmite I suppose. He gets a bad rap imho. He's put in some wonderful performances over the years and a few really bad ones. Everyone remembers the Ghostriders but seem to forget Leaving Las Vegas's. I mean, if you've watched the Unbearable weight of massive talent and didn't think that was a great film and Cage was excellent in it then you would be best avoiding the Nickster altogether imho.
Cage is a talentless nepobaby, everytime I see him in a movie he reminds of me of someone ****ed on drugs trying to act straight. If he wasn't a Coppola he'd be a toilet attendant
Lucky to be the nephew of a powerful producer director, yeah. As to many great films? You've mentioned 2, 30 years apart and in one of those he plays himself.
There are plenty I could mention but what would be the point? Best to just not bother watching anything Cage is in if you hate him that much. I think I've already said that tbf.
Pig Red Rock West Leaving Las Vegas Raising Arizona Adaptation Massive Talent Joe Bringing Out The Dead I'm not great at maths but I think that's more than 2 and that's just off the top of my head.
