So it’s Saturday morning, it feels great having three points in the bag and a second consecutive clean sheet, a draw and it was going to be no wins in three, instead the win means an unbeaten start. A tricky local derby next week home to Hull then a two week break before we face Burnley, the good thing about that is it’s a chance for the forthcoming new signings to settle in. Romano reporting we’re in the final stages of grabbing Manor Solomon on loan, today feels good. Thanks to the resident clown Spanish, I had a laugh reading the Thursday thread, he was certainly feeling lonely last night. Hands up if you’re hoping Leeds fan Alfie scores a hatful today
The 3 points last night were very welcome, some very solid performances and nice to get another clean sheet. I see Spurs and Fulham fans on twitter giving high praise to Joseph's performance. Solomon would be a very exciting signing, he needs to get match fit and if he can stay injury free, will be as good as anyone in this division. Spanish made more posts on that thread yesterday than he made on their forum in a week Hattrick for Alfie's lad today, Citeh fans will be looking for a big win, what with McKenna being a scummer
Nice to wake up and have a smile in my face rather than being a grumpy old get after a bad performance. Great performances from everyone except maybe Meslier who makes our defenders shy themselves with the ball at his feet. Aaronson, Joseph, Gnonto and James are a bit slow and pedestrian Probably the best new this weekend is the arrival of Solomon. Yes he got injured and now back to full fitness just needs game time. Check out last seasons contributions mainly for Fulham and Spurs think some Schaktar Donetsk stuff as well but last year.
Just reading how the Wednesday manager said Gnonto was the player they just couldn’t handle yesterday. I wonder what our new signing thought about it all as he sat watching
Looking at the goals, he’s like a Summerville with the turbo expansion booster and team player add on pack
I think Gnonto spent half his time playing as a 10 last night and so did Aaronson so maybe we dont need a 10 because we will also have Solomon who can play there. Plenty of wing cover in Gnonto, James, Ramizani and Solomon, we need good left back
Heard a little rumble last night that Bamford thinks his days are numbered here and he's looking for a move to the MLS, their season finishes in October then starts up again in February, Apparently Leeds have said they won't stand in his way.
The bloke that first broke the Solomon news, added then took down a post that a new striker will be next, not sure why he took it down. A midfielder and defender are strongly rumoured too
Morning all. Just what the doc ordered that performance. Anyone get that one? Anyway who said Willy wants away this season. Rubbish clickbait nonsense likely. Who really knows. As for Bamford going, that would be best bit of transfer news in years if we got some fool to take him. Did Matt also miss out on the spurs lad in his predictions
After 3 games last season we had 2 points. We have 5 points after 3 this season and our squad isn't built yet.
If you asked 100 Leeds fans to pick the team to face Wednesday last night, from the players that were available, the team would have picked itself. All 100 would surely have picked that exact 11 in those exact positions. Watching it last night, it asks the question, why did it take Farke longer than the rest of us to realise Piroe isn’t suited to the role he is asked to play. I’m not avoiding giving Farke credit, he literally had no choice, and our starting 11, we’re head and shoulders above the Wednesday players. Far greater tests will come, it’s highly likely we’re going to have to pick between Gnonto, James, Aaronson and the new lads coming in. I’m not knocking Farke but you’d have to be a Jesse Marsch not to have picked last nights starting 11 I don’t want Moyes either, I also don’t want to replace Farke now as we’re spending the money and it’s too late in the window
Credit where it’s due, but let’s be honest just before we got the first goal Meslier was caught out again and from that Aaronson involved in the breakaway which he then finished. How many times were all our players in their half tippy tapping on the edge of their box we lose the ball and then Bogle is scampering back. Jamal Lowe caught us out countless times. When we play a high line like that we will get killed by better teams. We have to be a bit more unpredictable in attack. We lose the ball on the edge of their box half the time and end up scampering back, we need to use the target man more and either take a shot or get in a cross, we can’t play through all the time. We won, its a start, we actually tried to take a shot from outside the box twice so progress. Any crosses are only made by Bogle and Firpo?
Could be Bamford and Gelhardt out of the door in te next days as no chance for Joffy now. Talks on a loan or outright sale…..
Anyone else see the similarities of Aaronson and Gallagher last night. Bielsa wanted Gallagher but he wouldn’t leave Chelsea so Aaronson was the next best thing and played in a similar way. Non stop busy, pressing, creating and scoring. A deal was done in advance but Bielsa was sacked so had to play for Marsch. However after a pretty good start his form dipped and he ended up pretty ineffective. Last night was different gravy
True, Copa America semi finalist and Bielsa beating international manager Marsch may have picked a different team It was less the team selection and ‘official’ formation - and more how he set up to beat their press last night. Gnonto and aaronson coming short and central to give extra options to pass around their aggressive press. Worked a treat. Hope he’s seen Gnonto (if he stays as a rutter alternative). don’t get me wrong, I’d like to have seen this tried before, but we’re 3 games in. So credit where it’s due.
