Llambiais hits back against Joey!

Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias has hit back at Joey Barton after his criticism of club chiefs - and threatened to take legal action against the outspoken QPR captain.
Barton, who left Newcastle for QPR in the summer, branded Magpies owner Mike Ashley a "cretin" in an interview this week and claimed he was forced out of St James' Park because he asked questions.
He also claimed the club's hierarchy tried to "railroad the players into signing a bonus sheet" and, in a reference to Ashley’s clothing business, said: “They thought we were Sports Direct and we should do what the subordinates at Sports Direct do.”

That has prompted an angry response from the club, with Llambias criticising the timing of Barton’s comments, which came just days after the death of former Toon star Gary Speed.
"In a week when one of Newcastle United's most beloved footballers passed away, it is disappointing that once again Joey Barton makes the headlines,” read a statement from Llambias.
"It is also unfortunate that Joey chose to draw such a disparaging comparison between himself and the employees of Sports Direct, who through hard work and dedication are the recipients of one of the most generous bonus schemes in UK retailing. It may not be a lot of money to Joey, but over 2,000 Sports Direct employees earning £20,000 will receive shares worth over £44,000 over the next two years.
"However, in this week of all weeks, we really do not wish to engage in a public war of words with Joey Barton. Our legal advisors are dealing with the matter now and we would encourage Joey to concentrate on his football at Queens Park Rangers.
“Our thoughts and attentions this week remain firmly with the family and friends of Gary Speed.”

I don't like talking about Joey but I thought I would just let everyone know that Llambais has hit back at Joey.

I don't really care about Joey tbh. Don't shoot me but I kind of agree with Llambias. Joey should just shut it and concentrate on QPR, because I don't miss him one bit.

Joey just replied. I wish he'd give it a ****ing rest, we all know Llambias is a twat, there's no need to bring so much negative media attention towards us to try and derail our season.

I don't really agree with either. The club is saying the right thing about Speed for sure but if feels very hollow given that they've proven that they care neither for the club's history or fans. That said Barton needs to move on. I would have preferred it if DL had kept schtum. I mean, it's not like he has a reputation to protect.

 

I don't get what Barton thinks he is achieving. He knows we all dislike Llambias and Ashley, but at the same time we're enjoying the football the club is playing at the minute and he just seems hell bent on ruining that for us. He talks endlessly about the fans but we don't need to hear this sort of stuff. We know what those two get up to and we know what they're capable of. I don't see Llambias' comments as trying to worm his way out of things and I agree with him for once. There really are things that matter more at the minute and I don't think Joey could give two shiny ****es about anything other than himself, getting his face in the paper and dragging NUFC through the dirt once again.

To be honest, I see no reason to believe/trust our owner and board members. Joey is probably telling the truth so I will side with him however he needs ti time these things better

Llambias must be pissed and I get that, but there's no need to mention Gary Speed. This has nothing to do with him. It just seems like a disrespectful attempt from Llambias to use Speed's death as a tool against Barton.

 

Maybe not, but at the same time Joey should realise that the fans he loves so much have got something else on their mind other than what he sees as our blind hatred of the Chuckle Brothers.

Maybe this is one week where he could've just kept his mouth shut and then started harping on about his horrific time with us next week.

 

Yet again he wants the headlines. I hope QPR get rid.
