So the situation is this. Clarke wants to go to the PL, the club say they'll consider offers and various clubs make bids. Ipswich are the highest bidders. Sunderland tell them they're 'holding out for more'. We aren't offered more, Ipswich go elsewhere and Clarke is left to pick himself up. In the meantime that '£25m' we wanted is now like sand in an egg timer and we can't sign other players. Yes, what a great plan ... ... some people couldn't negotiate a pay rise, at their office job, but know big business inside out

Dear oh dear. Some need to wake up with these owners. we have sold the best player in the championship for peanuts to buy a striker. if we have to sell £25m should have been the price. we are all entitled to lord opunuion by the way.

I will be very sad to see him go, but it is what KLD said he would do; making the club sustainable means selling players for profit. Sunderland are still a much more exciting club than before KLD arrived. We are still a club that haven't sold their soul (looks up the road here). If we had refused to let Clarke go then, as well as eventually missing out on any transfer fee as his contract ran out, we would be sending out a message to other young players that coming here could lead to a stall in their career progression.
Doesn’t seem unreasonable that. I’m comfortable with him on basis that Reg has chased him before. Doesn’t feel like a punt. Also, ****s on the theory that gaffer has no transfer clout.
