Someone has already kind of answered it. It’s not only a bold statement that has left people hanging, but also because of the “socks blown off” quote from years ago. It’s a new, exciting phrase to take the p*** out of because we’ve ‘heard it all before’.
I imagine I’m like many and hoping we at least find out who it was! That’s probably more the reason it keeps getting mentioned.
As already explained you can have more than 5 loans, just 5 is the max in the match day squad. It makes sense for a keeper as an “extra” loan if he’s just for emergencies as he will rarely be in that squad.
I know you can have as many as you want, but it’s stupid. You’ll have a pissed off player in the stand every week
It might be if they were all fit, all of the time. Chances are, at least one of them will likely be injured or have a niggle throughout the season. I think 6 is sensible. But many more and I’d say your point is well made. Especially as they would push other players out of the squad too.
It’s not even a guaranteed £20m, it’s £15m plus £5m potential add-ons, so less than we got for Philo.
Everyone’s an expert now aren’t they with no real understanding of a player and what they do in a team.
Why on earth would a keeper come on loan here to sit in the stand? Why would their club be happy to do it?
It's great that players are coming through the door with more yet to come. We will however inevitably be a complete unknown in terms of ambitions for a few months yet. Have we uncovered some real gems, will they click together, can they learn Walter's style and does Walter's style even work in this division. Makes for an exciting season though. My benchmark as to whether we have strengthened sufficiently will be whether £50K struggles to get into the starting 11 or not. If he turns out to be a regular starter, then we're not making the playoffs this year again.
Unless Tim isn’t happy with 1/2 of the current goalkeepers and this one comes in to actually challenge
It says in the article they want him to challenge. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hull-city-transfer-state-play-9501105 City want a third goalkeeper to come in and challenge Ivor Pandur and Anthony Racioppi for the number one shirt and that move is expected to be a highly-rated stopper coming in on loan.
He's not going to be first choice judging by the early subs in both Championship games so far. I'd say once in Meffert and Puerta will both be ahead of him, as will Zambrano and Simons. Then if you're playing Omur as a 10 him as well.
Wonder if we could see Pandur get a loan deal, if he goes back to sitting on the bench he won't be happy and his value will plummet also. If Racioppi is going to be No. 1 (which we all expect?), then it might make sense to keep his value high for a sale next summer?
This might seem harsh but they’ve hardly covered themselves in glory so far. I know it’s very early days to make that comment from a fan point of view but Tim has seen them every day in training. If they are making a high percentage of errors there too, then you are probably right!
He also said in an interview a couple of weeks or so back that Seri was among the best players he's ever worked with, maybe even said the best. He clearly admires him greatly as a player and a person by the sound of that earlier interview, and so I think you are right John.
