Lads, reading a bit on that Simic, he is being described as technically gifted, with good physical attributes, great work-rate that suits a high press, but as of yet the goals haven't come. Honestly, it sounds close to perfect, obviously we'd like all the goals but I assume Salzburg would be keeping him if he already had them. Does this match what you've seen/heard @Scout73 ? edit:: Could be a game changing signing this.
Can’t remember being as excited about a potential signing as I am for Simic. Had never heard of him this morning.
Even that makes me think of Stewart! Honestly I'd we find a player to lead the line the way Stewart did with a high press I'd be over the moon! I loved Stewarts work rate and the way he never gave the opposition a seconds peace! I think we missed that side of him more than his goals or I certainly did!
Honestly if this is all true he will be adored by our lot, nowt better than a high-pressing maniac striker, all-action, going hell for leather and winning the ball off a sh!t scared defender on the edge of the box. The crowd love that sort of thing.
That's been on my mind too. Not sure I want the club signing the kind of character that goes on strike to force a move. Feels like a Short era move.
Had a conversation with @Blond Bombshell re AI and said I would ask Alexa later, got back in the house around 5:30 and asked Alexa had Sunderland signed anyone, she said according to some newspaper we had signed Michut
I have never felt players going down that route have the right sort of mentality tbh. It is a team sport, your teammates need to be able to rely on you. If it were me, and a player landed who had thrown some toys out at his last club I would have doubts about him. Maybe just me, but it is a poor look. These days of social media make it probably look and appear worse, but nevertheless I would never advise a player to do anything other than give 100% irrespective.
Seems a bit inevitable Clarke's away this month. Last year it would have been unrepairable damage. This year though (based on 2 games granted) we look to have more threats than just him and more balance generally. It's obviously still a huge blow though
I agree entirely, I wasn't enjoying the whole thing tbh ... reminded me of Pritchard. Of course, we've no idea what the club told him at first or whether they've been straight with him. I'm starting to look forward to the 30th, Portsmouth the day after and we'll know where we stand. Hopefully the sad weirdo with the bell won't be poncing around
I'd agree, in general. That said, Kenwyne was my fave player for a couple of seasons and he wasn't averse to forcing a move. I guess it very much depends on the circumstances and the age of the player and how they see where their career is going/potentially could go.
