Yeah. This seems pretty clear. Indeed Flamengo are reported to be offering even more than Lazio even with the loan player as well. There is no evidence we are taking a reduced fee. Just that presumably they can’t offer more actual cash I wonder if this is getting mixed up / assumptions made based on that rumour of a 7 + 2m Onuachu offer being rejected and the next offer replacing the 2m for two loan players who seemingly weren’t worth a combined 2m in loan fees
You are not acknowledging the post you are reply to at all. Flamengo are rumoured to be offering a higher fee than Lazio. And now rather than at the end of a loan. Before the loan is even factored in.
The highest fee paid out in the history of Brazilian club football is €19.5m for Thiago Almada and then second is Gabriel Barbosa for €17.5m (Flamengo's club record) If we sell Charly for €18m then it's a new club record for Flamengo, the second-highest fee in Brazilian club transfer history and the highest offer that any club has put on the table for him. It's not that they're being tight or we are rolling over to accept a paltry sum by taking that money and one of their top young talents at the same time
Well maybe they can’t afford to just pay €25m or whatever it is so are making up the difference with a player. The only other offer being reported is Lazio at about €12m The question is whether you want the Flamengo deal and money to invest in a keeper/elsewhere or keep Alacaraz as that would appear to be the position we are in
Did Brentford start theirs when they weren’t even in the premier league Udinese seem like the top club on the Pozzo one but I don’t know how they’ve really done. And how much that is down to Watford really being awful. But even if we slump / keep yoyo-ing, it will take a lot for us to slip to the second spot Leeds are an interesting one. Doesn’t seem like there is too much of a link so far
Another point is that we don't know what the financial arrangements are between us and Goztepe. We don't know what loan fees they are (or aren't) paying us. We don't know how much of the players' wages they're covering. We don't know what the transfer fee is that they're going to pay us for Lis.
OK so if Saints value Alcaraz at £25 million, Lazio offer £10 million and Falmengo offer £18 million plus a player to Goetzpe then that's still not a good thing for Southampton FC. It might be good for SR, but it's not for Saints. That's what I care about. All made up numbers but you get the gist
Pretty sure Neymar was way more than that and Endrick too. Edit - ignore me - by incoming fee you meant incoming transfer
Benham bought Brentford in 2012 when they were in League 1 and then Midtjylland in 2014 as a Danish Superliga side. Since then, Midtjylland have won four league titles, finished second three times and won the Danish Cup twice. Before his ownership, their best was a solitary league win in 2007. Brentford obviously went up two divisions and have now stabilised in the Premier League, using Midtjylland for development/profits along the way. Pretty sure Frank Onyeka played for them too but there's been quite a few crossover and play and/or be sold on as a result of the development moves
Thanks Tom, yeah I am talking about money spent by Brasileiro Serie A sides, not money brought in with sales
Yeah he said "incoming fee" which confused me. I gather he meant highest fee paid by a Brazilian club now
It’s not as clear cut as that. Because if you go for option 3 here (keep alcaraz) then you get: - Alcaraz as likely a bit part player OR loaned out for less than the 18m fee - less money to reinvest this summer - a potential decline in the value of alcaraz - even fewer offers next year. And lower values. So it’s not quite as simple. Depends on how close we are with PSR rules. No one is really sure about that. If the expectation is that we ultimately end up with Hugo one way or another AND we are close to the mark then we wouldn’t be doing this weird loan. We’d be signing him in a separate deal and alcaraz will be going for an inflated fee like all those deals at the end of June. Except in this case it wouldn’t look as dodgy as those as wolves were linked for circa €15m and we put a €42m option in the alcaraz loan last year that was signed up to but not taken up. This would be nothing like Kellyman to Chelsea for 18m (17m more than he is worth) We don’t seem to be doing that so something else is going on and potentially the PSR isn’t as dire as feared. Or again maybe it’s more complicated than I’m setting out
I'm sure it's way more complicated than that mate, us lay people don't have a bloody clue what's going on! I'm probably just negative about this because firstly I love Charley and secondly I hate Sports Republic. Time will tell whether the multi-club model helps us out, but at the moment it's all very one way traffic. I remain to be convinced.
Vitor Roque has joined Betis on loan, which rules them out of the Moukouko conversation. Wonder if we have any interest on a loan deal as his options seem to be running out
