No, no, no. It was cancelled because it was a waste. To carry on would have been throwing good money after bad. The costs were astronomical, the number of places planned were stupidly low, and it wouldn’t get done.

Robert Jenerick is saying it wouldn’t have worked because it wasn’t bold enough, and we need to come out of the ECHR. Whilst I don’t agree with the policy, he is right about what would be needed in order for it to even have a chance of working.

The policy was a waste of money, the numbers were far too small to have had an impact. Thank goodness it’s been stopped

As is yours, the facts are though that it has taken ages to get to this point, and wasted in the region of £400m, and as of yet none sent, and still in legal battle, those are facts.

also a fact we’ve had a GE where this policy was a major element of the Tory manifesto, where they’ve had their worst results since Jesus was in short trousers,

Anything else you’ve posted is opinion, I suggest the Tory’s lost that argument.

    Seats - Labour 404 - Tory 121 - Reform 5 - The rest 120

The seats held don't reflect the percentage of votes achieved.[/QUOTE]
Nice try Wiz <laugh>, what matters is seats won as its first past the post, has been since the 1950’s( apparently, according to Clifton, I think it was)

The Conservatives active Rwanda deterrent was deterring people, that is the view of the Irish Government. That deterrent, the influence, that effect literally is an impact.

What are the costs of Labour granting amnesty to nearly 100,000 illegal migrants? How does this deter further illegal immigrants crossing the channel from the safety of France?

good job the tories managed to add a few ,000's to the police force otherwise what would do without all the officers who volunteer to take on duties at festivals and football match's . a largish number of whom are actually attached to departments dealing with cases like RAPE!
That £20bn "blackhole" that is solely on paper, at the moment!!! and would be slowly absorbed into the fiscal planning left by the departing .GOV, dependant on the progressively better economy [ interest rates and inflation mostly ] continuing there profitable spiral, to provide the funds when needed over the year to leave that sheet blank ... or even in the black!

It is obviously a con trick by Labour to premeditate cover for their impending mismanagement of funding and lack of fiscal planning. Almost 2 month's in and a friend who is in customs states " nothing really happening with the border force at the moment a few comments but no actions to set something up as far as he is aware other than internal job postings............

nice little rain shower gone past my window, suddenly it was a few seconds of stair rods then it became a almost vertical fine rain suddenly blowing past almost horizontally before alternating between a swirling mass and vertical and Horizontal............... 5 MINS AND STOPPED. .... BTW .....WINDS NOT AS STRONG AS FORCAST THOUGH AT THE MOMENT and odd breaks of sunshine

Just a shame ,000’s of experienced police officers were got rid of during Austerity, only to be replaced by a similar number of inexperienced new recruits recently. Experience is very important in policing, and can’t be replaced, it takes years to build up the knowledge, yet another example of mismanagement and lack of foresight by the last Tory government.
You’ve always got friends who usually don’t know what they’re talking about, I often wonder if these friends of yours really exist.

They were not replaced as quickly as they should have been due to AUSTERITY... which was down to having to tighten belts all round to pay off the black hole left prior to 2010

as for friends ...well they do exist, mainly down to having a couple of hobbies that encourage "meeting/ exchanging/ helping and mostly socializing! I have groups of friends in Derbyshire, Yorkshire North Wales , 3 areas of Scotland, OF COURSE here in the South West 3 groups I socialize and partake of projects Tues/ Wed / Thursday a few also partake in more than 1 of the groups. also have [a small number] friends in Australia, New Zealand, Phillipines and EIRE [ Cork area ] then of course a number of friends not involved my pursuits just live nearby and meet occassionally..

if it wasnt for email I would have to buy over 200 christmas cards <yikes> blimey doesnt bear thinking about more than my annual heating allowance .... uuuum and now Rattlesnake Rachael has stopped that ....

You did not answer the earlier questions. What are the costs of Labour granting amnesty to nearly 100,000 illegal migrants? How does this deter further illegal immigrants crossing the channel from the safety of France?

Short term incorrect decisions have long term consequences. Ironic really in a post You explain how you believe getting rid of , 000’s of police was necessary to save money, you criticise the removal of your heating allowance, which is also done as a cost saving exercise.

You are always telling us how well you’re investments are doing, should the rest of us hard working, tax paying citizens pay £300 towards your heating, when there are much more deserving cases?

you make me laugh with your interpretations didnt criticise it simply used it as a comparison what it might have cost send over 200 christmas cards I simply said "stopped that" didnt give any opinions on for against ....
was it an explanation,? or simply during that time in our history we could have exasperated the financial recovery left by previous .gov if we borrowed more to pay for them at the expense of an even longer Austere period which would .... in hindsight ... have meant we would have been really screwed over Covid and the energy crisis .......

or depending on whether your opinion is positive... correct short term decisions have a long term consequence. Problem is there is only one answer right or wrong, when time proves the point for or against.

as an aside the hotel attacked was making around £150,000?+ per week when the contract is over .GOV pays for the refurbishment of it! Also pays for the damage caused in the protest.
The bibby residence has 400 people on board [ hold 500 ] so the cost to the tax payer for the 400 on board is around £14,000,000 [ includes fee for hire of... ]
