If he wants Premier League football then we can’t just offer him it. Ipswich give him guaranteed premier league football for a year, now.
No it would financially ruin the club to pay the bloke PL wages, it’s not affordable as well as the fact you set a precedent to others that the wage cap can be blown out of the water
it’s not necessarily about money tho is it. It’s about premier league. Even if it IS about money. Ipswich’s £30k per week is worth more than our £30k per week because he’ll be doing it in the top flight. He should be backing himself to impress in the premier league and earn himself a deal at a club bigger than Ipswich for £80-100k per week
I know as a scout you should live within your means. Say we break our structure for Clarke, Neils agent is knocking on the door demanding the same, every new signing will want a little bit more than previously You can only spend what you generate, we can not and should not try to compete with PL clubs on wages - i wouldnt risk the financial future of the club on a player I also know as a scout that there is always a better player(s) out there that can bring the same or more to a team
Got to beat whoever is in front of you no matter when we play them, both team fill of confidence and could go either way. I'm going for us
I’m just bumping the above as, firstly, it’s spot on and, secondly and mainly, because it seems there’s some ITK mischief makers rearing their heads now suggesting otherwise.
Why we thinking that? Because a few twitter people say Ipswich want him? The Head Coach just said he'll be playing on Saturday
'Just pay the lad what he wants' thats a quick way to end up without a club to support anymore. Frankly, the only way our wage structure will increase is by selling the likes of Clarke, you have to take that first step (a big sale) which yeah it may hurt in the short term but in the long run we'll be better off.
