Players shouldn't need guarantees. Just play your way into the team. That might help determine which team you go to. If Marma sees Pope as too big a threat, then does he have the right mentality anyway?

All of that said, he'll clearly pick Liverpool over us right now, especially knowing that after his season long loan back Allison will be leaving them.
 
The enemy will first be planning to mock Newcastle for failing to sign Guehi and their secondary attack will be to laugh at the price.

Ultimately they're defeated and saving face.
