The man who sold the world. 3 versions.
Also, it was used at the title song for the Last version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

    The Original 1970

    Cover by Lulu 1974

    Cover by Nivarna 1993

    I'm ignoring Midge Ure's cover from 1982.

His first single as David Bowie, after many failed attempts in many bands and a name change from David Jones (because of the confusion with Davy Jones form the Monkeys)
    His bands included:
    Konrads
    King Bees
    Manish Boys
    The Lower Third
    The Buzz
    The Riot Squad

The Hunky Dory album was were he found his feet imo., never looked back after that, I went to his concert at the Locarno, it was a late night affair and I think it was about midnight ? when he came on dressed as a fairy in a shiny jump suit and wings, I was working early start the next day, so I thought sod this and scarpered before he got going, and missed one of the best gigs ever at that venue , according to all, a really high bar if ever there was one.

I'd like to see a biopic about his life like Rocket Man or Bohemian Rhapsody, Elvis and Ray, with all the ups and downs and struggles and successes.

In two days time I’m turning the grand old age of 58…..happy birthday to me etc. I’ve decided that 45 years after first trying to learn I’m getting myself a guitar and giving it a bloody good go at learning it again. This is one of the songs that I’m going to learn with the intention of performing it on stage at Linga Longa bar in Bali next year.

There are one or two about , one on Sky Arts I think, last year about his early life before he left home right through his career, lots of detailed information I knew nothing about. After the first two or three of albums I drifted away from Bowie, but his songs (like Ray Davies above) have aged so well , two very different characters but both outstanding song writers of their time.

One of my all time favourites artists. So many styles to his music, and he was a great entertainer. You can play his music to the young uns and they get it and love it. My lad has my Hunky Dory vinyl in his room and says he isnt giving it back any time soon. Low is a favourite of mine, recorded with Eno. The second side is something to behold.

Not the most flattering image, but as Mrs K is heading back to the UK tonight we decided to celebrate my birthday early. This time next year I will be a guitar god.
