Good going forward, but sloppy defending gave Oxford their goals. A typical early season game involving a promoted side, I'd say. Can't read anything into it as far as our fortunes are concerned.
To repeat, can't read anything into it as far as our fortunes are concerned. How does someone as consistently positive as you last season, Rick, suddenly become so unremittingly negative?
Fully agree Robbie. I have known Rick for many years going back to the original 606 and he has always been the positive one - often in situations where I have been the doom and gloom merchant. He has always accepted the need for time when change is needed but this time he is surprisingly all doom and gloom 1 game into the season. Come on Rick, I prefer the positive Rick gently chiding me for my negativity.
Can see Ipswich going down to ten men before this is out. Two booked inside 12 minutes. 0-1,Welcome to The Premiership!
Sara’s Galatasary are currently 2-0 down to Young Boys in this evenings Champions League Qualifying Playoff
Really poor decision in the game to award a penalty for handball just now. The shot clearly deflects of the defenders leg onto his hand
Finished 3:2, so I think the odds now probably favour Gala to go through. Didn't see the second half; Gala must have been much improved.
To add insult to injury it resulted in a second yellow for the player as well https://x.com/thesportsman/status/1826544976001438015?s=46&t=eNUxKZQ4GDywJtSbgmpm6A
The yellow card follows a clarification which came into force this year: "LAW 12, Fouls and Misconduct: Clarification that nondeliberate handball offences for which a penalty is awarded are to be sanctioned in the same way as fouls which are an attempt to play the ball or a challenge for the ball." That doesn't, of course, answer the question of why the penalty was awarded in the first place. Where's Mark Clattenberg when we need him?!
In the Ipshit v Liverpool game an Ipshit player, who had already got a yellow card, scooped the ball away with his hand to prevent it running to a Liverpool player. The ref gave a free kick but no second yellow. Is this another rule open to interpretation by the referee meaning a yellow is given if it is an away player other than Manure but not given to a home player.
Rowe on the Marseille bench for the match against Reims last night. Came on in the 65th minute, with OM 1:2 down, replacing Harit at CF. Had a wonderful chance to make himself an instant hero by equalising, but drove his near post shot against the foot of the post. So it was the controversial Mason Greenwood who was left to take the Marseille plaudits when he equalised soon after.
