Their spending is absolutely bonkers. It's the rate they go through players that irritates me. They're constantly trying to offload the previous window's signings to fund their new ones. For the amount they spend they should be winning more than Man City, but it's just so brainless that they get absolutely nowhere.
Its crazy You look at their squad and its jus full of random signings They spent 40m on two keepers last year Madueke for 35m Kellyman 22.5m this year Neto 60m last year Jackson 37m last year Fernandez 120m last year Caicedo 115m Nkunku 60m Washington 16m Its honestly crazy Just goes on and on Like you think its over And then the next player is between 15-50m Its almost like its money laundering or something
I have some, albeit limited, visibility into the Clearlake organisation. I’ve met some of the head honchos and they come across as very professional business people. They must just be kids in a Candy Store (Americanism) but I am wondering if there is some tax loss angle to this as why otherwise would they piss so much away?
George Moncur leaves Orient to sign on loan for Southend United.....came on last night v. Boston Utd.

Seems fan ownership doesn’t make any difference to the way things are done. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...Vincent-Kompany-Matthijs-Ligt-Man-United.html
Exactly. Some were on here going on about fan ownership, wouldn’t it be wonderful. I posted an article by David Conn saying it was an illusion unless fans agreed with selling their best players to Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund. As he pointed out all the clubs are actually run by businessmen and the fans 51% makes little difference. Now Bayern Munich are ignoring the manager’s wishes never mind the fans.
You've got it all wrong, he went for a copy of The Sun and they only had The Mirror left.....foiled again!
It's a complicated subject and there are pros and cons, but I've certainly heard it said that hardcore fans in Germany find it baffling that English football is so detached from the fans, and value their fan ownership model immensely even if it isn't perfect. I'm sure we'd all agree (well almost all) that things have gone a bit too far the other way here, and fans have far too little input.
The point David Conn was making was that in effect it doesn’t make much difference to what a club does.
The fans are not directly involved in the signing of players etc, but they have ultimate control, they can actually remove the people running their club as long as it's unanimous. German football fans are very proud of their system of governance, they think it's the best in the world.
