I think it depends on how you’d define managed properly.

Rooney had a phenomenal career so if Moore has one anything like that then Spurs fans will love it. I don’t think Rooney properly looked after himself either off the pitch, he even looks like someone who’s abused a lot of alcohol over the years. Ideally Moore wouldn’t quite follow that path.

I don’t see any real reasons why he can’t be getting regular minutes off the bench now though. Especially as no one really seems to be worth halting his development for.

Rooney's one of the best English players of all time, but he was past his best by the time he hit 30.
I'm sure a lot of that is down to his non-footballing activities, but he also had a ton of pressure really early in his career.
I'm hoping that Moore will be eased in sensibly and not rushed, but also not held back unnecessarily, either.
Progress in the cups could be essential to create the right opportunities for our more talented youngsters.

Arteta won the FA Cup in his first attempt which bought him time, if he didn’t win that then I think they would have got rid of him.
Ideal way would be how Pep treated Foden at City

Spot on. Slowly build up how many appearances he makes and the minutes in those appearances.
Don't run him into the ground or become over-reliant on him and give him experienced players to learn from.

Sounds like there’s no fee in the Soonsup-Bell deal but we’ll have a 40% sell on clause.

Paul O’Keefe seems to go along the lines of what The Athletic said the other day in that a number 6 is no longer a priority.

Could be wrong but I’d imagine it’s going to be a backup GK and a LB to compete with Udogie as to who we do target from now until the window close.

It’s been a superb window for exits so far with a bit left to do on that front but I don’t really look at our team/ squad and see us as much, if at all, better than last season. A lot of onus/ hope is going to be put on the likes of Bergvall and Gray becoming excellent players in a short-ish time span along with Maddison and Bentancur rediscovering pre-injury form, both showed signs of that Monday but too early to say.

Sport (the Spanish one) says that Barca are willing to let Andreas Christensen leave for €25m

Can play CB and DM and qualifies as HG? Tempting, unless it's 100% agent chatter

That’s what I meant the other day about the window being a gamble. Again I think it is a lean market in terms of 6s of truly additive quality who are available this summer, so we’re banking on Gray coming up to speed fast. I do think he’s got buckets of potential - seems quite robust in duels and calm on the ball too. And Bergvall too of course, further up the pitch. I do wonder if we’ll add another midfielder assuming Gio is going and Devine goes on loan but I’d assume it’ll be more of an 8/10 type if so based on what those two players do.

Getting a new defender in is an absolute must too.

You would expect all these young players to get better and as they will do this season by season our team should be better than last season. The one area where we may not be better in will be because we have not directly replaced Skipp or Hojberg both of whom we called on to shore up our defence but as you say Gray and Bergvall may evolve rapidly.

We look a clear step better in terms of quantity but still a ways off in terms of quality.

I.e. we can probably expect to go quite far in all competitions but will fall short once things get serious. Something along the lines of 5th in the league, SF of the Carabao, and QF of the EL/FAC.

It's the reverse of the situation under peak Poch, when we had all the quality we needed but not enough quantity.

I think the quality test will be answered over the course of the season. By the new year we might have the two young midfielders bedded in, Odobert flying, and look a much more dynamic and balanced team.

Of course none of this might happen but we live in hope <laugh>

I don’t think we should expect it but certainly hope they do.

In some ways we are, in others we’re not.

The midfield - right now - is probably weaker without Hojbjerg and Skipp. Everyone’s rightfully excited by Bergvall and Gray but I think we’d be naive to say they’re already better than two steady Eddie players with 100+ apps for the club. Having said that, the hope is that by the end of the season both of these two will far surpass what the former could manage but right now it is hope more so than a guarantee.

The striker situation is a weird one, we have two mid table strikers whom we hope one can elevate into a top six calibre one. It’s nice to have the depth but realistically one of those would be backing up a more complete striker and finisher. But technically I suppose we are stronger in the position than last season.

Defensively I think we’re marginally better than what we were this time last year. Dragusin being in for 6 months already looks an upgrade on recent years Dier albeit we’ve only had brief viewing. Whereas I don’t think Spence will be worse than Emerson, I don’t think any of us on here would be worse than Emerson.

All in all I’d agree though with what you’ve said RE expectations, we’ll likely go a certain distance in all comps but are lacking the quality to win anything… again.

The obvious point is our current system needs a No6 who can dictate the transition from defence to attack, which is why Bissouma was drafted into the role as he can do that while Hojbjerg can be better classified as a defensive No8

And when you look at our past No6es you realise how few could play that role for us at the moment. Parker and Carrick certainly could and possibly Sandro, but the likes of Freund, Dier, Howells, Sissoko et al could not for varying reasons (usually a combination of their passing and/or first touch)

Which does suggest that there may be an alternate solution we’re not looking at, be it Bentancur playing deeper or there's a CM out there who can play deeper...and not be caught doing Hippy Crack on Snapchat

...and then I discover Amir Richardson joined Fiorentina on Monday

If you can stand the droning presentation, there is a lot of perspective here on where Spurs really are. This is why I am optimistic about Spurs future.

Ashley Phillips is going to Stoke on loan, according to The Athletic. He needs regular football.
