Mbuemo and Wissa are a really good combo .I will be pleasantly surprised if we don't concede at least 1 from a fast break .
The system par se seems to be set up to keep things narrows thst there's more people to cover breaks but really we need to see this against high quality opposition who will break properly The best will in the world Ipswich messed up most of their with ad passes or chronic finishing.
Some changes in Officials for the match. MICHAEL OLIVER IS THE VAR MAN I cannot understand why the changes were made, STUART ATTWELL is still the referee. please log in to view this image Stuart Attwell has been appointed referee for Liverpool vs. Brentford, with Michael Oliver in place as lead VAR. Simon Bennett and Dan Robathan are assistant referees while Michael Salisbury will be fourth official and Mat Wilkes assistant VAR
Maybe another ref got an injury and whoever was on var got drafted? At this remove you'd expect it's.not just a sickness that whoever is on var is covering.
CHRIS SUTTON'S PREDICTION. Anfield, 16:30 Brentford have got a goal in them and Ivan Toney is back in training. There is talk of him going to Saudi Arabia, what a tragedy that would be at his age - he has plenty of time left to do that. It was a really good win for Arne Slot's Liverpool at Ipswich, they had to work for it and he showed his ruthless side taking defender Jarell Quansah off at half-time and putting Ibrahima Konate on. Mo Salah looked good, he is ripped and looks fitter than ever. I think Liverpool's attack will be too strong for the Brentford backline but Brentford have a goal in them and I really like Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo. Sutton's prediction: 3-1 Clara's prediction: 2-1 Jordan's prediction: I have gone for some goals here - well, I have done that with every game really. I'm hoping for some good games, but there is a good chance that so many of these will be goalless. 4-2 Anfield, 16:30 Brentford have got a goal in them and Ivan Toney is back in training. The Hungarian looks exactly the type of goalscoring midfielder that Slot wants to help his front three and the signs were positive against Ipswich where he has three shots and posted four touches in the opposition box. This game should present Szoboszlai with opportunities to let fly from range - something he loves to do. How data gave Liverpool their edge: Lessons on how to win a title Only Bruno Fernandes (37) has had more shots from outside the box since the start of last season than Szoboszlai (31). Brentford's tactic of defending deep and keeping very narrow with their defensive blocks means shots from range are fired at a huge rate. The 456 shots from outside the box they've conceded at an average of 5.92 per game is the most of any Premier League team to have played more than 37 games in that period. please log in to view this image Play Video - Carra's fascinating breakdown of Slot's 'central' Liverpool tactics Jamie Carragher analyses Liverpool's 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League and suggests that Arne Slot has made a positive start to life at the club by creating an obvious identity Szoboszlai to score from outside the box at 11/1 with Sky Bet is a runner. SCORE PREDICTION: 2-0
Konate for Quansah in only change Gomez back on the bench. No jones anywhere? Assuming injured as we have 4 defenders on the bench
Yeah 4 defenders on the bench plus a defensive midfielder. Just 3 actual options off a 9 person bench. Gakpo, Elliott and the big moron.
TEAM NEWS: Ibrahima Konate comes into the starting line-up in place of Jarell Quansah for the Reds in the first home fixture of 2024-25. Liverpool: Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Salah, Jota, Robertson, Gravenberch, Alexander-Arnold. Subs: Kelleher, Gomez, Endo, Nunez, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, Quansah, Bradley.
Brentfords kit looks like it is supposed to be white, but someone put a red sock in the washing machine with it.
Wild conjecture, I'll probably be wrong... But I don't think this slow, gentle build up football that we play under Slot is going to be as good for Salah. Not that the club won't do well with these techniques, and not that Salah isn't a great player still... Just doesn't seem as suited specifically to him.
Annoys me. I know it’s not quite the same but their normal kit is red and white and pink is essentially a mixture of that and although not a huge clash with red or white kits, it’s close enough to be annoying when you have so many colours to chose from.
