It is very quiet which always happens when a takeover is happening. Whether it is or not we will soon find out but I dread to think what is ahead of us.
PR is there for a reason and a distraction when the going gets tough. The number of fans ready to throw the towel in is worrying when we’ve only played two games. The silence is deafening from the club and I know I fear asset stripping and selling to red bull is on the cards, but actions will always speak louder than words. The transfer window shuts next week but it doesn’t fill me full of hope if we end up with loaners who won’t care about the club.
From a personal point of view, like every other fan I suffered the two decades in the wilderness but somehow we kept going. At my present vintage I’ve no intention of going through that again if it comes to that lots of better ways of spending a weekend thankfully
It's almost as though the 49ers are trying to piss us off and make us hate them, so when RB take over we all go, we didn't want them but they've got to be better than what we've had.
The thing that fooks me off more than anything and why we are peeing about in this league right now. Just heard Paul Barber the Brighton CEO who got promoted and have consolidated their position in the premier league over a number of years and have improved year on year. So far this window he has spent over £200m and still more to do. Radz bankrolled our first promotion and spent £100m to do it. The end of a successful season saw us finish 9th and Bielsa got £13m for Firpo and £11m for Harrison who we had on loan. So Bielsa spent £24m. Imagine if Radz had spent another £100m, we would still have had Bielsa and still be in the prem and by now be a settled prem force. We are going backwards fast
Good evening all. I’m just not buying the asset stripping thing. They have bought the club (apparently) for £150 million and have made £138 million in sales so no profit. RB don’t do “takeover” they completely rebrand, which I’m not sure that the FA would allow (I guess they could cite MK Dons). The 49rs have a huge sporting franchise chain worth billions, I honestly believe that we are playing by the PSR rules that other clubs have worked around.
They are being bank rolled by the fact they sell players (and managers if you count Potter). We sell ours for peanuts.
The days of players caring about the club are long gone. Supporters get too caught up in all the hype and need to treat supporting as a hobby.
Don't come on here talking sense mate as the conspiracy theorists will not like it. As for incoming players Rutters 66 games and 8 goals will not be hard to replace. I think the club has done well selling the players on for those prices.
Oh and didn’t they also buy ER back and it’s now owned by the club for the first time since the financial meltdown so again that wouldn’t suggest asset stripping to me?
One of the biggest bollocks dropped this transfer window was the sale of Cresswell, just watch him rise to International level, and that’s down to the manager I am afraid.
I remember an old school science teacher who doubled as a PE one lecturing us on giving 110% and how it’s not possible, it was a pet hate of his, along with reflex save not being a thing. We also had Ray Swan father of Graeme Swann teaching us math and PE he was such a tosser Robert Taylor a British Lions Rugby player was another games teacher that we had, lovely bloke, we didn’t realise at the time how lucky we probably were with the cricket and rugby teaching we had on hand
My rugby coach was David Stephens. He played inside centre for Wigan RL and his winger was the legendary Billy Boston. Also played for Wakefield. He was a decent coach but a bit rough round the edges.
I have an F. A. vase game this coming saturday. Entrance is £6 and £4 consessions with under 16s free.
It's not just a hobby for many though as so much time, effort and money is put in to support our club. It will never be just a hobby, sorry.
