Same here Marcus, I watched the full 90 yesterday. Great performances all over the park, but I admit that I missed how good Chris Rigg was. Absolutely fearless and won every challenge, he made Windass and Bannan look like Sunday morning footballers
Keano in the stands announced as new manager iirc . Me and the lad watched it in a bar in Salou. Bar next door were baggies fans . Lad went to the bar door waving his fists celebrating at the end It was one of those moments you just knew we'd got it right like the Peter Reid appointment. Feels like that now with Regis Le Bris. Everything coming together.
Rigg is a different class of footballer. Getting him tied to a contract was utterly superb business by Speakman. Think he is destined for much bigger than us, but will enjoy it while he’s here
Not Barry Bannon. I watched on sky and everytime Bannon touched the ball the commentator got excited as if he was going to pull a rabbit out of his hat. Been like that everytime and yet to see him don't owt!
David Prutton after predicting a 3-1 win to Wednesday is now eating humble pie on the Football Show Well done Sunderland - there’s something very interesting there It’s a team that so far a couple of games in has been OK Getting to the play off semi finals and not kicking on from there was a source of frustration But there are wonderful green shoots for this season.
Bannan must hate playing us. Gets clamped out of the game, pretty much every time. I assume from the Sky ****fest he does alright in other fixtures.
If Sunderland lose I never look at other Sunderland forums, too toxic, but they're really entertaining if we win There's a new thread claiming O'Nien's goal was offside, despite him having watched it on Sky replays, the free kick for the first goal was soft and the fourth was just a tap in that anyone would've scored despite him having outpaced two chasing defenders. It just shows some people's mind are locked and they'll never find the key.
Embarrassing eh Just enjoy the 3 points and discuss what went well, where we can improve on going forward Its boring looking for faults or holes in everything
Some of our fans simply don't deserve the club they supposedly support as they do their constant detracting. The made up club with the skint owner syphoning funds and the machiavellian DoF with the striker allergy and Jobe who contractually cannot be dropped and Mayenda who is the worst player to have ever kicked a football, that horrid club that only really seems to exist in their weird heads, it's the club they deserve.
I always think the same mate! I've said many time on here I'm not a bloke that loves watching football so will watch anyone! I only watch SAFC and England when it gets to the finals. So all I've seen is Bannon be ineffective against SAFC but the entire 90 minutes each time the commentary team act like he can walk on water and will turn the game and own us any minute! He spent more time in SAFC pockets than anyone else! I think it stands out aswell because sky make such a big deal about him that it's noticeable he does **** all!
On the Rigg front, I have not been so excited about a home grown player ever, and this includes the likes of Sharkey and Todd, he really had a phenomenal 90 minutes on Sunday. I dont expect him to maintain that level every game no player could, so lets not expect it, or say we only praise home grown players , as I fully endorse Mayenda being made man of the match , even tho Rigg was our star player in an outstanding team performance.
Imagine how they'd be if we go up this season and are challenging for a top 4 PL place next. " I ****ing knew it....KLD is God...KS is the man...I never doubted it....**** the Mags.....
Jobe and Cirkin were outstanding too. Looking at our midfield, if we get to the Premier League, Neil, Jobe and Rigg will generate well in excess of 120M between them. Then we've got Ballard, Huggins, Cirkin and Patterson who will all command 7-figure fees. If Mayenda carries on improving they way he has and becomes a regular goalscorer, we could add another 50M to those above. This club has been transformed since KLD took over, largely due to our recruitment on the playing side, but also off the field since the arrival of Bruce. People are already saying that Cirkin is the best left back in the division. When we get Huggins back, we'll have the best right back in the division too imo. This is a great time to be a Sunderland supporter for anyone who is forward thinking. Only those who are stuck in the past and expect the bubble to burst on any given week, because that's what used to happen, are denying themselves the pleasure this journey is taking us on. Most of us knew we had a good group of players, but we needed a proper head coach to bring these players on. Since RLB has come in we are playing attractive front-foot football. Gone is the negative dross we saw last season under Beale and Dodds. I've read a lot of people on here praising Rohl for transforming Sheffield Wednesday with the same squad of players. RLB is transforming us in double quick time with roughly the same squad of players too. Get Mendy over the line and ship 5-6 out and our squad will be more than useful.
RLB already thinks there's still room for improvement ahead of the Burnley game https://www.safc.com/news/2024/augu...kspw_aem_yDrV2bPjJGbicEg_Q6092A&sfnsn=scwspmo
Here's an idea Rohl, why don't you mind your own business, think about your own players and how poor they were 'Rohl had no complaints with the outcome on Sunday and said his priority now is ensuring his side dust themselves down in time for Friday's game against Leeds United.' "When I saw this time the performance from Clarke and compared it with the last game here, it's a huge difference." "I told him this after the game, it was a great performance, we saw your quality, if you play like this always you'll go to the next level. It's not my job to tell him this but I did." Yes Danny, a player who's being chased by Premier League clubs could go to the next level, you're an absolute football genius ... ... now f*ck off.
