What really struck me was how Le Bris had Sunderland playing to our strengths and Rohl did the opposite. I'm far from a tactical person but it was clear how the match was won and lost. Le Bris has Sunderland playing to our strengths ... energy, pace, passing. Rohl was asking two clumsy defenders to play the ball out and have Bannan at the centre of virtually everything. Sunderland don't have muscle and height so don't try to compete that way, Rohl reverted to packing the box with big lads and hoping for headers. They looked so slow and laboured with everything and I can't remember them getting behind or through us for the entire game. I actually felt sorry for their keeper, absolutely no chance with any goal after his defence lost concentration time after time. Wednesday are in for a tough season imo ... ... Le Bris just handed every other team a blueprint on how to beat them.
I get the impression that Rohl over thought it. Hopefully he adapts their game, plays to their strengths, and beats some other teams, before panicking in the reverse fixture and messing up again.
Im not sure if City had a bid in for him but theyve scouted him loads last 2 yrs He just wanted to play 1st team football, cracking attitude to have
There was also interest from 2 German teams (Dortmund and Bayern) I believe and a team from Italy but was not given a name just a serie A team.
I might be wrong here but if Rigg wanted to leave he could’ve just went to another club for nothing before signing a contract here and they would’ve just had to pay compensation is that correct? Which in reality would be peanuts compared to what he’s worth,
Yup. Tells the biggest tale. Rigg, young, Watson, ballard, jobe. All happy to commit. Look at the exodus of recent years. Night and day
Yeah, we’d have got a development fee. There’s precedent now for decent amounts on these but he’s going to be a £30 million plus asset so we’d have been ****ed over.
cant see him happening now unless it’s permanent. We only need one striker if Rusyn doesn’t leave. I want Mayenda to get plenty of game time. If it’s a loan it has to be somebody undoubtedly number one choice who significantly improves us. I think it will be Mendy and that’s it. (In that position)
We need to hear something about Mendy soon like, i'd like to know that the deal is still even on haha
It’s pretty staggering that Gray went for £40m after one good season where he mostly played right back. I venture Leeds are “trendier” than us which has led to him being overrated vs Rigg. But in theory Rigg should be commanding close to that by end of season.
feels like a game of chicken. Who blinks first. No news is possibly oddly good news in the long term pursuit of him.
If you want my opinion yes. I have no fact to that but they’re very close to securing a replacement. That should make things easier
Rather not loan him to play him over Mayenda tbh. He’s not really any more proven he’s played at a turd level and was a bench warmer for Ipswich last season I really don’t see the buzz around him. Mendy first choice with Mayenda coming off the bench seems better. Absolutely nailed that he goes to someone else and scores 20 goals now that I’ve said that though.
This is a waste of 11 million. lad might turn out to be good but without hindsight he’s 20 year old with a bang average goal record. Ludicrous
