Good Morning. It's Tuesday 20th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road It’s time they put their hands in their pockets Broadcasting legend Jeff Stelling has laid into 49ers Enterprises for their lack of ambition this Summer, and has demanded to know when will they put their hands in their pockets? Stelling makes some great points. Leeds are visibly weaker than they were last season. If they weren't good enough then, how are they supposed to win promotion this time around with a squad consisting of only 13 outfield players with more than 20 games under their belts? Their window of opportunity is shrinking by the day; they have ten days to conclude their business or resign themselves to an extended stay in the Championship! Parachute payments are shrinking too. They've been handed £36m this Summer, money that should be earmarked towards a return to the top flight, but all remains quiet on the transfer front.... According to Stelling “I thought the 49ers were putting money into the club. It’s time they put their hands in their pockets. They’ve sold Summerville, Georginio Rutter is on his way out, and Archie Gray is gone. “There is no question that Leeds are much weaker at the start of this season than they were last season, and they’re getting the results that would suggest that. Farke wants four players? Get on with it.” please log in to view this image Popey dispels Rutter sell-on clause BBC Leeds journalist Adam Pope shared a significant post regarding the transfer saga involving Georginio Rutter's move to Brighton on Twitter last night. Rutter's shock move to the southern seaside town came out of the blue, and further depletes an already diminished Leeds Utd squad. They have sold eight first-team players this Summer, generating a substantial £120m in transfer fees, but time is quickly running out to replenish them! We have been led to believe that there was a sell-on clause of between £5.1m-£5.9m due to former club Hoffenheim, but the Elland Road journalist has rubbished this suggestion, stating: "Told there is no sell-on fee owed to Hoffenheim." please log in to view this image
Morning all The media know there is nothing better than poking a Leeds fan for a reaction. It earns them coverage, views and clicks and boosts their pennies. On a positive, it might also provoke the 49ers to come out with a calming statement, or better still, an exciting signing or two.
Rutter announced by Brighton last night. I'm expecting an announcement for incomings today if I'm honest.
I've said all summer that I'd give them the full window and I'll stick to that. I'm not keen on the lying and false promises. Its gonna take alot to get fan confidence back.
Now rutter rubber stamped we hve to see movement now. 10 days to go and we needing 4-5 players thats nearly 1 every two days now time is closing in.
I'd be amazed if it's more than three, two signings and a loan or a couple of loans with buy options. I have remained calm, but I would probably loose it if we announce some 18 year old for the future and we did well to beat Barcelona and all the other names they throw in for his signature
Good morning from the train up to York. At last somebody is talking sense regarding the 49ers. I think Ger Lynch accused them of assett striping on his Podcast bit at least a big name is finally speaking oit
Thats the rumour. Several Leeds journo's are talking about a flight that is arriving today. They don't know who it is, but its LUFC connected, so could have a player on-board
We’re signing David Mcallum. If we can’t see him, how will the opposition defenders mark him. Genius. He’s dead of course but that’s just a minor inconvenience and might explain why we got him cheap.
It is getting ridiculous, only 13 outfield players that have played more than 20 first team games for the club. You have to argue that this window is far worse and more disruptive than last summer given we have lost better quality players. Two that wanted out are back so not sure how that’s viewed in the dressing room. The owners stated that they had plans in place but we’re heading into a 2nd game with the smallest of squads. If they don’t address it you wonder how long before the big crowds at ER start to drop.
The thing is will this lot care if crowds drop off. Thise attending games are probably a small part of total income. BTW who still believes there will be ground expansion in this decade
Unfortunately, that is genuine. The latest is:- Owen Beck from Liverpool Manual Benson Dejan Ljubicic rumoured to be arriving at LBA at 15:55pm
