Being clear and consistent has to be part of how the club acts over transfers IMO. It will be part of what attracts us to players in the first place. I'm sure we'll have set a price and will stick to it. My guess would be that this latest round of chatter is about certain people trying to lower that price for their own benefit. Nowt wrong with us playing it with a straight bat. If we said £25m then we stick at that price.
Completely agree but its all about pros and cons. We sold Stewart to Southampton last season despite them being a promotion rival. It was undoubtedly the right decision. If Leeds offer £25m now and its an amount we'd be happy to accept, then you could argue we shouldn't turn it down as next summer that price will drop sharply. Sure, Leeds might get promoted and us not, but will them having Jack Clarke really be the point of difference there? It will certainly reduce our chances and increase theirs, but there will be no way of knowing if its actually made a material difference to the outcome.
All that being said, of course it would hurt more as fans to see him go to a Championship rival. I'd be pretty upset about it. Would fancy Trai Hume to smash him mind.
Harte been a bit of a pr**k last few years. If Leeds is the best he can get for the lad then Clarke seriously needs to get a new agent
I’d agree but there has to be a deadline for all of this. We can’t be going passed the end of this week for that deal to happen . We don’t want to leave ourselves with no time to find a replacement. Play hardball - £25m and bids to be submitted by Sunday midday or we don’t sell him until Jan
'A huge fee' is a totally meaningless phrase tbh. It's like me saying I have loads of cans in the fridge ... ... to some of you that might be half a dozen but to some others
They’ve said there is a sweet spot for selling players maximizing income based on performances, length of contract, age etc all depends on how they view this with Clarke. for what it’s worth my guess is if a PL club comes in and offers what we are after he’ll go, if not I reckon the 2 yr extension gets signed which gives us some protection over any perceived significant drop in value due to contract length him an improved wage and possibly even a slightly reduced release fee (possibly allowing clubs to structure a deal with less up front but bigger guaranteed add ons) complete guess like maybe Speakman will just tell them all to **** off Clarke isn’t leaving or he ****s off to Leeds….owt is possible
What a load of clickbait, honest to god, all he does is in this article is quote interviews and give his own personal opinion
People who do this have a stock set of vague phrases that look more definite than they are. These two, in one sentence, are meaningless and easy to defend if nothing happens. "Sunderland set for Alexandre Mendy breakthrough as Caen close in on replacement." 'Err yes they were set for a conclusion and close but things changed' ... ... no wonder they get so much stick.
Stade Malherbe de Caen version Mbappé has shown some interest in Mbaye Niang . No offer yet, just something to think about. footmercato.net/a6289709239603…
