For me the faux outrage with WMS isn't actually the problem. It's the belittling of anybody who doesn't agree with their faux outrage. The quote tweeting and pile ons from their followers. Just bad internet users. I bet they're ok when they're not on a keyboard.
Blocked them all last season. Bunch of professional negative whoppers. Raging that other pods are more popular now
Nobody is taking 'victory laps', people are just happy to see us win and play good football. I think 99% of fans realise it's a 46 game season and there's a lot of ups and downs to come but if you can't enjoy yesterday then i'm not sure football is for you. They act like they are moral crusaders who hold the club accountable but they don't, they just embarrass themselves. They can't engage in debate and they can't back up their opinions.
Didn't notice it was Josh Windass at fault for the first three goals. And he was at fault twice for the first
Not sure if it’s mentioned, but there’s a lot of noise about Clarke turning down a new contract offer today
I don't think its new news. I think he just hasnt signed the one on the table. I dont think he's newly rejected it, if that makes sense. I think the rumours have just started today because its transfer season.
One thing that always baffles me about people who are completely negative about the club and seem gutted when there isn't a negative thing to talk about is why they ****ing bother with the club! If it made me that angry and bitter all the time I wouldn't ****ing bother. Whole point of being a supporter of any club is the hope and enjoying the good performances and results! The club knows we need a striker they aren't going to use the results as an excuse not to be bother! Also the most positive, red n white specs wearing, glass half full supporters haven't suddenly said we don't need a striker cause we win yesterday with a striker scoring two. All I've seen is people chuffed for the lad who have said maybe we don't need a loan now give him the minutes but still need a permanent striker in with a bit more experience. I thought some people on here were bad but them tweets were different level!
Yeah that makes sense. Pity you can’t add clauses to contracts saying “the guaranteed release fee is £xm but this must not be publicised, otherwise the fee can be increased”. Stop agents from spreading ****e!!
The psychology is quite clear for me. If you take the mindset that everything is awful, it means when its going well you're more pleased. And it means when things are going badly, at least you can say you were right. Thats how it starts. But the human brain and society at whole really yearns to be right. People look for confirmation that their opinion is the right one. That's been exacerbated by social media, as you're typically surrounded by people who agree with you. The problem is its really hard to prove you're right. In fact its often impossible, because there's no "right". But the human brain can't cope with this. It needs to be right. So what's the only way it has to make you feel like you're right? By making the other person who disagrees with you "wrong". That's why they belittle others for having another opinion. They want that person to be wrong. And they want other people to tell them that that person is wrong. Because that makes them feel right. And its also why they double down when something happens that makes them feel wrong. Like us winning 4-0. They are likely happy we won but absolutely psychologically frustrated that the people they said were wrong, might be right. So its a mental cycle. You think negatively as you don't ever want to be hurt. And then you treat everyone who disagrees with you as being wrong. It's the same social cycle that has led to Brexit, anti-vaxx, the recent riots etc. People get into this mindset that everyone else is wrong, apart from those who agree with me.
I don’t know who those people are on Twitter, but anyone desperately trying to find negatives isn’t a true Sunderland fan. Literally no one is doing/saying what he said, and telling anyone who disagrees with him to **** off says more about him than anyone else.
WMS They moan about people not willing to engage in discussion, and then try and belittle them when people do. Bunch of Muppets if you ask me.
He gets as many chances as we're prepared to give him. We get to choose how much we play him. We don't have to play the other strikers all the time.
"Don't listen then" Used to really enjoy their pods but they're so far up their own jacksies it's unbearable
I'll still happily engage with the traditional fanzines (ALS mainly) but I can't be doing with anyone who set themselves up online as a voice of the fans or a mouthpiece from which news of the club is leaked. I feel that the old fanzines and the new influencer-like solo accounts, podcasts, and YouTube channels are from very different traditions and have very different outlooks. The old fashioned fanzines still feel like community efforts and trying to give something back (even if you don't necessarily agree with what they say). The other stuff just comes across as "pay me attention, pay me attention" self indulgent bollocks. Just another symptom of our increasingly narcissistic society.
I have a ridiculous number of muted words and expressions on my twitter account yet it is still just full of hate and bots. Stopped posting but still have an account as it's useful for transfer news. I've moved over to Bluesky instead, it's a lot quieter but growing. I've also setup an account that reposts from the official Sunderland threads and twitter accounts too but still testing it . Anyway, I'm assuming this Clarke thing is just another case of social media chinese whispers.
