There are lots of if and buts about this season perhaps it's one of the least predictable for a long time. City may be good enough but it might be taken away from them. Arsenal have a good shot but then they did last season. Ange doesn't know how good we will be as he answers media questions with his usual straight forwardness. In contention for the top 6 are at least 8 clubs each of whom could finish top 4. Villa looked strong in their opening game with their new heavyweight midfielder Onana but CL football will probably blunt their league performance. Newcastle with a clear unhindered run may surprise us and United have the tools but are they sharpened? How good are Brighton and how good will Spurs be?
Somewhere around 5th or 6th, I'd have thought. We've bought for the future and improved our depth, but we're lacking in at least a couple of areas. We need another defender and our goalkeeper coverage isn't good enough.
They may need a few stars to align but I think they could very much be dark horses for a top four finish. They always buy well, both Minteh and Wieffer have already got off to good starts with assists and they've just broken their record for Rutter who done well with Leeds last season. Mitoma's back from injury who for me is already one of the top tier players in the Premier League and showed as such on the weekend by starring in the thrashing of Everton and no doubt this new young manager of theirs is going to be just as good, if not better than Potter & De Zerbi. No Europe either this season so one game a week should work in their favour.
