@SAFCsource just posted a story from France that they’re expecting Mendy’s departure to be “imminent” With Alexandre Mendy's departure imminent, SM Caen could bring back Mbaye Niang, the striker who started out in the Malherbe jersey. Negotiations are underway between the two camps. https://www.foot01.com/ligue2/mbaye-niang-de-retour-en-france-a-la-demande-de-mbappe-441579
Interesting. Not sure the standard the lads at as never seen him play but appears to be different stamp from the forwards signed last summer. Mayenda big confidence boost yesterday is encouraging enough too.
Good. Be great to get him in this week and let him have until the international break to get up to speed
I see Ian Harte is at it again . Football Insider have a "source". Can't see Leeds paying what we'd want for him.
My position on Clarke hasn't changed. He can go if we get the fee we want, which is roughly £25m. That fee gets an extra £5m on it during the final few days of the window.
Agreed. Whilst I'm desperate for him to stay, what I've noticed so far this season that our game plan is no longer "give it to Clarke and see what he can do". We have multiple attacking options now, so losing Clarke would be a huge blow, but it wouldn't kill us.
Just because we don’t appear to be as reliant on JC at the moment doesn’t mean he’s not an important player for us. I honestly hope he doesn’t go.
I think we all hope he stays and we sign all the other players we need. But if him going allows us to sign better players, then he's earnt his move and we come out well from it. But thats why I've added £5m during the final week to compensate us for lack of time to spend it.
Worth also pointing out next summer Clarke has just 12 months left. There's no guarantee he'll be worth the same in 12 months as he is now. In fact if our team is set up to be less reliant on Clarke, he might stand out less, and therefore not attract the attention he has.
That's what I've posted in the last two days. All from the Caen forum. Replacements watched their game at the weekend. https://www.forumsmc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2498&start=56385 If this get's over the line then the idea of another " on loan " striker might fade ? I reckon Ba could cover down the middle if needed . Why not. ?
He terrifies the opposition, leading to space for our midfield and forwards to do their jobs. I also don't think we necessarily need to sell to buy either - we're a couple of players away from a really strong side. I don't think the club would sacrifice Clarke if the right option came along.
A lot of wide left lads we've been targeting as Clarke replacements have seemingly already moved this summer. It doesn't matter who comes in for what price, I imagine the change will be stark. Clarke not only gives you goals and assists and great dribbling. He's a real all rounder, strong, quick, passing is great, his stamina and graft on another level. Wingers used to be seen as luxury players. He's modern as they come and a throwback at the same time. Agree with the lad who said we should add another £5 million on, but I'd do it now. Hope he signs an extension.
Are Leeds a massive step forward for him? Is there any point? We already 4 points ahead of them, clubs similar size, distance to his home in York barely any difference. He does support them and that’s the kicker I guess.
So he’s saying they’re linked with him, a prem move may not materialise, and Leeds won’t be able to compete with prem packages? Honestly, journalism is easy nowadays.
