A separate competition. Six Nations B might be its nickname but it has nothing to do with the asia Nations so there is no reason for promotion and relegation between the two.

Ok, so we're in agreement then that the six nations is a closed shop competition and no less competitive because of it. Hopefully, the same will happen in rugby league.

I wonder if it has happened before, whereby the 2 Hull teams finished top and bottom in the same season?

You’re arguing with a brick wall mate, what you say is absolutely correct, but I think you’re wasting your time.

It’s also worth pointing out that domestic club Rugby Union doesn’t have promotion or relegation either. What’s worse is they’ve reduced funding for the lower tiers, which is the opposite of what’s happening in Rugby League, where more money will now filter down the pyramid.

OK, I looked, and the answer seems to be no. Best I could find was 78-79 when KR won the championship and FC won the second division.

How can removing the ambition of lesser teams be positive for any sport?

Another one who doesn’t get. The Six Nations is not a closed shop with no promotion or relegation as it is not a league with another one under it. They can always invite someone else in, though fitting even more games into the season would be problematical. It is like saying the Rugby League Tri Nations and then Four Nations were closed shops before they disappeared due to lack of interest.
What you say about the Rugby Union club game is correct the the RFU seem to be in a competition with the RFL to see who can screw the game up the most.
