It’s not been very close the past few years. Quite a few years ago I tried to get to as many Scottish stadiums as I could. I managed, Falkirk, Forfar, Hamilton, Hibs, Hearts and a couple of others. I didn’t bother with the big two.
Arsenal pushed them all the way last season. In Scotland Celtic were a mile ahead of Rangers, who were a mile ahead of Hearts, who were a mile ahead of Kilmarnock. If you're looking for a league that's exciting Scotland are not the best choice!
Arsenal bottled it. Just like the season before, and like they will this season. And I wasn't trying to claim the SPL is exciting. As I said in my earlier post, as a competition the SPL is more interesting than the Prem. Simply because the SPL is a 2 horse race and the EPL is a 1 horse race. In my opinion Charlton have a better chance of winning League One than any other team except Man City has of winning the Prem. Money and the abuse of power has ruined the Premier League. City are untouchable. That league is as good as rigged.
But you boys win by a mile for being so partisan, and that is through the divisions, not just the top tier.
De Bruyne and Haaland missed a lot of games, I wonder how many more points they'd have got with them not missing so many games.
I have just been reading that Chelsea start the season with 53 players in their squad The manager has no say at Chelsea on incomings, he’s just told to coach them. Chelsea are hoping to sell or loan out some of their 53 players in the next two weeks. The average player salary at Chelsea for those 53 players is £70,000 a week.
Haven't they just offered one of their young stars a nine year contract? They have signed him up effectively for the rest of his playing career. What incentive does that lad now have to improve as a player? He's made up for life, but he's barely lived any of it.
Mason Burstow is a good example. He was never a Chelsea player. Hull offered £1.5m for him this week. Burstow is already financially secure for life, and he has barely kicked a ball.
One of their young stars is Cole Palmer. What a player he is. I am amazed that Man City let him go. https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/cole-palmer-signs-new-chelsea-contract
Money has definitely ruined the game. The gulf between the divisions from a financial perspective is massive. . The City bubble will burst and others will join in the chase but the worst part of the greed of clubs and owners is the way they treat fans. The amount of money fans are now paying is ridiculous and rising. Outrageous prices to see a game in the top flight . Add to that the cost of travel ,drinks ,food, possibly merchandise and it’s mind boggling. How these fans can afford it is beyond comprehension, especially with kids and travelling to away games in Europe .
