That was an absolute disgrace Some really bizarre decisions in the second half. How Rusyn didn’t get a free kick late on in the corner was a mystery too.
I still want 2 strikers personally. 1 perm and 1 prem loan. There's plenty of games to be played this season and as good as Mayenda was today, he's only young and will have dips in form. I want us to be competitive all season, not run young players into the ground or suffer badly when we have injuries. Rusyn is 4th choice for me (if we can't move him on), I don't see a player good enough to have an impact for us.
Just dont think we can keep 4 strikers, if Rusyn goes then 100% we will need another - we only play 1 upfront so thats why id be ok with 1 Ideally id sell rusyn n bring in 2 strikers to compete with Mayenda
I feel like this would completely cut off mayenda’s chances so I’m not onboard with that personally. Loan would have a minutes guarantee and you can’t be benching the experienced striker often. if we get one, it gives Mayenda the chances he deserves when we rotate and cameos from the bench etc
It was more rusyn being 4th choice, we def shouldnt have 4 strikers in the 1st team picture as we only play 1 up front
The ref gave them a load of soft free kicks, I said to the lad next to me, I think he feels sorry for them I tried to start a chant in The Premiere Concourse for Barry Bannan, no one knew the words but it caused quite a few laughs, to the tune of My Garden Shed My Garden Gnome Is bigger than him My Garden Gnome is bigger than him Its got a pond and a fishing rod My Garden Gnome is bigger than him Lennon and McCartney eat your hearts out
I think if there's anywhere to have an imbalance in the squad, it should be striker. We play 1 up top, but I wouldn't be against having options to adapt from the bench. We'd be 1 injury away from flogging Mayenda to death every game or relying on Rusyn (who isn't going to score the goals to get us in the top 6). We've not seen enough from Mayenda to know that he's good enough yet either, in my opinion. Sure he was good today, but it's a knee jerk to think he's good enough to fire us to promotion.
But we also need to capitalise on young players good performances as it can be their breakthrough. You don’t want to nullify that and stop giving him the chances right when he’s hitting that breakthrough if that makes sense
There's nothing at all to stop us giving him the chances, we just don't need to put a whole seasons performance on his shoulders.
I get what you are saying but just dont think we should have too big of a squad so think 4 strikers is unrealistic Rusyn did ok when he came on, but i agree thats why i said id try to get rid of him and bring in 2 strikers
I just thought him saying if we can’t offload him was that he was behind Mayenda which he clearly is.
Agree with this, he will need supporting and challenging. Definitely 2 more needed but wouldn’t want a loan that would restrict his development, whilst developing a PL club’s player for them without us having an option to buy at the end of the loan.
Agree on all counts. Trying not to be too giddy after today, but Mayenda can play a part for sure but we need that focal point.
I’d like to see any potential third striker being one who can also operate out wide. Think it’s important to have versatility in those positions to make sure there’s a route to minutes. Three line leader strikers isn’t good squad building imo. Too much money potentially sat in the stands for me.
I’d say more one who can be a 10 if we’re needing a goal and play with the 9 or instead of. I think Mayenda could do that support role also like.
We’ve been bleating on for years for a centre forward striker who can score goals We don’t want a 10 or a wide man or any other type of attacker It’s a centre forward we need
