Interesting. Although you wouldn’t notice that until you’ve started looking into him. I mean I wonder what made him catch their attention initially because let’s be honest I doubt anyone had him linked with Spurs at all before yesterday morning.
This summer does seem to be a campaign of Ndombele erasure - Most expensive signing? Not anymore, that's Solanke - Wears the 28 shirt? Not anymore, that's Odobert - Loaned out until his contract expires? Not anymore, that's Gil - Does dumb **** online? Not anymore, that's Bissouma
I'm definitely on the side of, if his attitude is good then give him a chance. He's by no means a bad player and whilst never setting the world alight I think he has shown the ability to play in an Ange FB role. He did pretty well at Utd all being said and saving the money on a replacement - even temporarily - seems to be a good option.
That’s generally been my opinion of him too, often found the treatment by us quite weird. There was a rumour that he himself doesn’t want to play second fiddle/ be a squad player and that’s why we’re looking to ship him out as Udogie is clearly the main guy for the role but even so I thought there could’ve been a way to meet in the middle whilst he’s still here. He’s better than a lot of LBs in the league in my opinion, Barca supposedly interested too so if there’s a way they can pay with anything better than IOU’s it could be a good move for both parties.
I think there are stat watchers who basically have certain signifiers flag when certain thresholds are met. Probably automated. I think Ange also watches for how players play against us. What I like about this signing is Ange is clearly looking for players who actually want to play for Tottenham, who see it as a good thing for them to be a part of this team, at this juncture. I'd rather that than begging billy big balls players to like us. If that means going down a few rungs of the hype ladder to get a player if similar quality, who actually has some respect for Tottenham, then that is great.
In the comps doing the rounds there's one clip where he has Kulusevski tracking him and Romero covering him, yet still manages to track inside and get a shot off
I didn’t know Odobert existed until yesterday so clearly know little about him, he can definitely dribble but from what I’ve seen online and heard, he has very little end product
I think it's hard to judge anyone from that Burnley side, due to their set-up. Kompany had them playing a style of football that was very tough for a club with their resources. Foster's problems robbed them of their best striker for most of the campaign. Bruun Larsen ended up being their top scorer with 6 in the league and 7 in all competitions. Coming in just behind that with 4 isn't bad, but it's not amazing, either. Playing for France at every youth level is a positive sign, though.
As I pointed out, with 3 goals and 3 assists he had a say in 1/6th of Burnley's entire GF column last season
Despite that like many others I didn’t even know he really existed until a few days back, I think simply being 18/19 and playing regularly in the Premier League like he was for Burnley last season is alone an impressive feat, regardless of his stats. Most players at that age get drip fed if lucky or sent on loan, so a year of England’s top flight football behind him at this age should in theory bode well, especially with a year in Ligue 1 behind him too. I’m intrigued to see how Ange handles all these wingers now though. We know Son will start as many games as possible but then there’s Kulu, Johnson, Werner, Odobert, Moore and Solomon all vying for game time, with LW naturally going to be more limited than RW, the RW spot is still very much open for debate as to who should be starting too. Even if we don’t include Solomon who seems likely to depart in some capacity, it’s a big juggling act for Ange. I’d imagine two won’t even be making regular matchday squads, let alone getting on the pitch.
Sami Mokbel reckons Leicester are trying to accelerate a move for Skipp. A Winks-Skipp pivot, stuff of dreams! Tom Barclay also saying similar, as is Romano.
Now looks a goer. Medical booked for today and deal should be completed Monday. Best of luck to him, always gave his all and is definitely a solid enough DM, just not really a fluid enough player for our style of football.
Possibly, though I’d imagine Gray is the main replacement for Skipp. There have been light links to Locatelli but unsure if there’s any substance to them.
Now saying in excess of £20m! That's a really good deal in my opinion. Especially as I felt we got ripped off on the Hojbjerg to Marseille fee.
Decent fee Just need to find some mugs I mean buyers for Lo Celso, Reguilon and Solomon now. Outgoings definitely been the highlight of the window for me so far.
Ally Gold said back in June that this would be our primary focus after kicking lots of cans down the road for years. We've made excellent progress on this front and if Lo Celso and Reguilon can be moved on permanently before the window closes, it will constitute a near-miracle compared to recent years. Anyone know what Skipp's departure will do to our HG/CG numbers?
It’s definitely a change of direction, before I feel like Spurs would have kept the likes of Hojbjerg, Emerson and Skipp around because they’re decent professionals. Now it seems anyone who isn’t capable of ‘Angeball’ is sold even before a replacement is signed because either way they won’t get game time.
