The book is brilliant, l enjoyed it immensely. The film is indeed based on the book, however the TV is not - rather themed on the storyline of the book. I actually enjoyed all three. I do enjoy the complexity of American Football and the physical prowess of the players but there is that Americsn big, bold, brashness that l find unpalatable.
I try to be optimistic and dismiss curses as not real, but I am really disappointed by this. Was hoping he'd be back by Halloween or something. Sigh, trying to be a positive Vikings fan is hard frickin work.
Second pre season game today. Presumably we'll see more of Darnold as he's number one by default now and the other two will be competing to be back up. Will be interesting to see how he does.
Yeah historically this is the game where you see the most of the starters, probably most of the first half. Fitness isn’t an issue for NFL players as it so stop start, and due to the physical nature of the game injuries are far more likely so pre season is really for trying to figure out who makes the last 5 or so spots on the team and not get anyone hurt in the process
Yep. Jefferson shouldn't be playing in any pre-season games. We already had an injury scare with Addison in practice!
Missed our first tocuhdown as I was watching Receiver, but seems a good start. Was the 2nd episode of Receiver, not sure if anyone has watched it but interesting hearing a snippet of Kevin's locker room speech after a loss, which obviously they don't put on Facebook! People say he's soft, but he didn't sound soft!

Thing I’m looking forward to seeing most today is Cine and Booth. Big chance neither make the team which would really cap how awful the 2022 draft was And as I look up Booth I see he was already cut what a terrible draft for Kwesi, especially as his first ever draft

I doubt it, whoever the 4th QB on the roster is will get some time to see if he can overtake Mullens would be my guess. Underdog? He was our first round pick 2 years ago ffs. One we traded down and passed on at least 3 players I can name who have already reached the pro bowl in their first 2 seasons. The fact he has made such minimal contribution is awful. Booth was who we picked with the extra pick we got for moving down, high in the second round and he isn’t on the team anymore . It was an absoloute **** show, arguably the worst draft in history, certainly for the Vikings but up there with any team. Id like to know if any other team had actually got rid of their first 2 picks in a draft after 2 years. I think the raiders had 3 players picked in the first 2 rounds all get arrested and sent to prison or something in a year or 2, but not cut for being bad at the sport
Also just seen that JJ McCarthy is the first rookie QB in the modern NFL era (since 1967) to suffer a season ending injury in pre season, also happens to be the highest drafted QB ever in Vikings history “Season ending injuries in training camp do occur, but aren't very common among QBs. This makes sense since the defense is not allowed to hit QBs in camp, making the only injuries possible ones that occur in limited reps in the preseason or from non-contact injuries. That is why the list of starting or rookie QBs missing the season after an injury in camp is incredibly short. I mean based on his draft position, he has no business being an underdog, but based on reality and how his career has gone thus far, I think it's fair to say at this point he's an underdog. But just think how much sweeter it will be when he comes back and takes the starting position and leads the Vikings to success. I don't for one second regret picking the Vikings, yes there are plenty of disappointments and some craziness, but there are some great moments too. It's a crazy emotional rollercoaster that I'm glad to be on.

So the Vikings initial 53 man roster has been announced. The interesting/surprise players not making the roster are: Kene Nwangwu Jacquelin Roy (5th round pick in last years draft) Andre Carter Lewis Cine (first round pick in 2022 ffs) James Lynch Jonah Williams They’ve kept McGlothern and Tailani who were undrafted players this year on the 53. Other notable point is they only have 2 running backs on the 53 so expect them to sign someone and probably cut Asamoah (another failed draft pick)
McGlothern impressed in the pre-season games so hopefully he can be another diamond in the rough like Pace last year. Cine was badly affected by his bad injury a couple of years ago unfortunately. Hockenson will miss at least the first 4 games as he is still on the PUP list as his rehab continues. No idea what's happening with Addison after his DUI charge and injury.
