Yes, for once the players followed their instincts as Doyle fed the through ball to Sarge for an instinctive goal, then the same again a minute later. That's more like it.
Disappointing draw after going ahead, but it really is a "work in progress" this season. My expectations are not high - A top-half finish will do.
We were by far the better team in the second half but one lack of composure allowed them to equalise. The future is yellow.
To quote from the BBC match report: " ............ and when the excellent Callum Doyle won the ball in the Blackburn half, his pass was perfect for Sargent to race clear and thump a rising shot between Pears and his near post." Win the ball high up; quick defence splitting pass forward to one of the front men already making the run; goal. Totally Thorup. Similarly for the second goal, but this time the pass from Núñez.
Plenty of positives but very much a work in progress. Sell Rowe keep Sargent , get another striker & we will probably cope. We were one of the oldest average sides last season, I would much rather young academy kids & young Internationals . Which is what's being sold
Thorup very appreciative of the crowd today in his post-match interview with Paddy Davitt. Special mention of the support for young Forsyth as he made his way round the pitch after coming off. Seems to think we might have a replacement for Idah in before next Saturday.
