Watched the game and thought we played well, even before the headbutt. Nothing new, we must get a goalkeeper and a striker who scores goals (not Archer) otherwise we will go down as the defence and midfield looked really comfortable

Just back from the match. Disappointed by the Macca mistake but more annoyed by the rest of the team failing to score against 10 men. We had an hour to score one goal. The strategy of putting high balls over AA’s head, onto Burn’ s head was a repeated failure. At least we didn’t concede 3 or 4.

 

Thing is, this wasn’t a game we had down for points…however we won’t get points in all the games where we ‘should’ be aiming to get points either. When opportunities come up like they did today, you can’t pass them up too many times. I expected us to get tonked today, and yet it ended up being a wasted opportunity. As others have said, the test now comes when a ‘lesser’ side comes to St.Marys next weekend. Desperately want to move on from what plagued our last PL season… good performance but plucky loss to good sides and **** performance and loss against the poorer sides. Roll up Nottingham Forest.

 

It's early days but it never looked at any time that we don't "belong" in the PL even when it was 11v11.
I know I keep saying it but the addition of a quality GK would make all the difference to the team, i'm of the era when Shilton saved several points a season and gave confidence to the whole defence.

 

I like that he's not publicly flaying Macca but surely he knows that we can't go through the season with our current goalkeeping options.

 

You’d hope so. The question as ever is who though. Logic says a loanee as I don’t think we are ready to give up on Bazunu yet, Johnstone or Ramsdale maybe available on loan but sounds like both their current clubs want a permanent deal done, which means waiting til the end of the window and seeing if they don’t get a move a loan is possible then. We run the risk of losing more points because of Macca until then and then not even getting the players if they move/another club comes in for them on loan aswell.

 

I don’t know how I feel. On paper we were expecting nothing, as some have said it’s a free hit. But you take opportunities where you get them. With us playing well and them going down to 10 men it gave me hope we could snatch a point.
